I've had this problem for literally years and still do.
He was lucky, it just barely missed him. Almost popped his own head like a watermelon all over the floor in front of everyone. When handling things this heavy, that makes them dangerous, and even if you fail you gotta be trained and prepared to fail gracefully, and have support nearby in case you need it. Carelessness can seriously harm yourself or those around you. He fucked up bad and got very lucky.
