whelmed actually is very similar in meaning to overwhelmed. It means engulfed.

fall into place. Plus, soon you'll have invitations to visit people around the world, which is always nice. I know this sounds like I'm saying there's a quick fix to a long problem, but it might be worth trying. 2b/2b.

I am a little old-fashioned because I think single-sex mixed-generation groups are best. You can't expect any one person to (even a friend) to fulfil all your needs. Instead, focus on what you can give people and eventually you'll be buoyed up in return. A good starting point is to look at places where people don't already have friends e.g. elderly widows and widowers, refugees, international students etc. and look for ways to help them feel less lonely. After a few years, it'll all just 2a/2b

I'm not sure if I'm the right person to answer because I like to be alone and very rarely feel lonely. But your last line, about the gf, makes me think that you are looking for a partner to make you feel less lonely, and that you have a very set set of expectations of what she will look and be like. I think you need to put that aside. People expect their primary companionship to be their partners often say they are very lonely (in my experience). You need to to build a community of friends. 1/2

There's a fashion now to have those fake pink blossoms all over the ceiling. And, to be honest, I kinda like it more than the ones above.

I love the thought process you've given the tractor.

I dunno. My parents were great and I have terrible mental health.

Those aren't even cankles. Cankles are when there's a bulge of fat on the ankles themselves. This person just has big calves.

I remember this. He was annihilated in the comments and came back with an apology and a vow to try reading in a bar. Today, however, I read 'book' as 'hook' and thought we were in some weird pirate world.

I've had depression for 30 years, and it does seem that when my life is going really well, the depression gets worse. I think it's because when things are hard, you believe that the depression is due to external circumstances. But it (depression) doesn't stay this way forever. It comes and goes.

He's directing money away from the kids to develop AI? That makes me feel physically sick. I bet he didn't like the fact that the kids and their parents weren't just servilely grateful all the time.

I've always wanted to be the neat, in-control person (like Amy in Brooklyn 99), but instead I am just a magnet for chaos and disorder.

Yes, I completely agree. And the comedian here seems to be on the bad side of that line. And more than that, just not funny.

Nah, the other two want to be politicians AND don't know what tax is.

Aye, edgy comedy can be funny IF there's actually a joke in there. But this is just, insulting people and the underlining joke is "oh, look at me, I'm saying stufff that's not socially acceptable to say."

He is handsome but, unfortunately, not funny.

And the business professionals. Everyone has a beef with them!

I work in the arts and I have a lot of friends in the sciences, and I've found that we really respect each other's disciplines and see the connections between them. It's people who want to be scientists or artists but have the beef with each other.

Bloody hell

I dunno. There was a protest and counterprotest in my town yesterday and the police were just wandering around keeping an eye on things.

Does that shock you? It's all part of the same discussion. How much do physical attributes count? I always thought I was a bit of a prude but maybe not@

I saw Evita live a few years back and was surprised by the non radio edit of Goodbye and Thank You.

What's wrong with the lyrics of Perfect 10? I'm pretty sure I know every word and it seems to be pretty consistent in mocking diet culture.

I was so worried that you wrecked going to say there was a scandal or something.

I didn't post or comment. I opened the page in the morning and the afternoon and it looked like not much was posted.
