A traditional treb has the counterweight swing in an arc at the front do to the frontal arm. This design, called a floating frame, lets the arm drop much straighter down. So more energy gets pushed to the projectile. I dont know the math, but even though some energy is going into pushing the frame, you still get more energy conversion
