A poor comparison. Gas masks operate using negative pressure inside to draw air through the filters, and leaks would allow air to bypass filtration. CPAPs use a pump to force it in, and leaks are not only permissible but designed into the mask/hose.

There's a pin pulled at the top before it's able to deploy. There's no way to open it from the ground.
