It’s been years, but it’s a great sandwich. Memory is we bought two sandwiches and fed 5-6 people.
At our protests, virtually every sign is handmade and different.
There’s a part of me that wonders if adding terrorism could work in LM’s favor. I could easily imagine jurors thinking, “Nah. That’s not terrorism therefore not guilty.”
Not only do insurance companies add directly to the cost of medical care without actually providing any actual medical care, every medical facility has to have people who do nothing but deal with insurance.
Just as a point of reference, the very top salary that a teacher in my California city earns is about $125,000. That’s after 20+ years teaching and a doctorate. Certainly comfortable but far from rich. Unless they had very significant savings, they would not be able to buy a house from scratch.
Technically correct, however—for most people, this is the first loan they’ve ever received, probably the first financial decision also. They’re trying to do the right thing for their futures by getting an education. Pre-frontal cortex that allows for considering future consequences is still forming. Most other loans you can give the collateral-ized item back to cancel/reduce the loan, and amount owed never exceeds original principal if appropriate payment schedule followed. Predatory.
I’ve long felt that Frazz by Jef Mallet was a continuation of Calvin’s life—who might Calvin have grown up to be? It doesn’t have the fantasy elements but he has the compassion and humor of someone raised by a wise tiger
So…the government is ruining people’s lives in the US because it sets prices at the grocery store? It creates inflation because of corruption? Obviously the free market and corporations (like Swanson Foods) have nothing to do with that!
And so we argue about which statistics to use, which conveniently distracts us from the fact that mass shootings make up a small fraction of firearm deaths in US. We don’t even notice the “normal” firearm deaths unless it’s very local, a celebrity, or something unusual. We’ve become numb to firearm deaths. One day I imagine we won’t even notice the mass shootings. Frog in boiling water.
It’s called home ownership because the home owns you. Lots of work—but congratulations!

I notice her child endangerment happened a decade ago. Are we saying that if you’ve ever done something wrong that you aren’t ever allowed to speak up again?
So the secret service let someone get this close to a former President with a gun?
Some good ideas in the comments. If she’s on Medicare, investigate a Medicare Advantage plan for her. My in-laws were on it and paid minimal premiums and during their last 18 months of life I think total out of pocket expenses for both of them was about $3000. Included meds, hospitals, nursing home, doctors, ambulances, hospice…

Yep. The article is about (US) institutional investors, not Chinese people or even Chinese companies.
The buoys are obvious but the blades are not. Even with the closeup, it took me a moment to see the blades. Buoys are markers, not weapons. If I were swimming, especially in the dark, I wouldn’t expect there to be saw blades attached to buoys.
Almost all states (39 states) require at least a semester of Civics/Government for high school graduation.
Heartily agree. I got a Brother laser and it’s lasted about a decade. I replace the toner cartridge about every 2 years or so (we only print a few pages per week) for about $20. Before with inkjet we were spending about $$75–$100/ year.
Kids should be playing Minecraft—not working in mines.
