Lab grown diamonds certainly have their place... however, the money you pay for a lab grown diamond only goes into the pockets of a few, very rich people. When diamonds are mined (all non-blood diamonds, see Kimberly Accords 2003) the money goes to the communities around the mine. No it isn't. (I work in a jewellery store) The machine produces sound waves that shakes out grime between the spaces in the stones.
