Phone screens are HD. (Xperia Z, HTC One, Samsung GS4) Meanwhile very few cameras go substantially above 640*360 on their screens.
Phone cameras are HD as well... HD is really low resolution in photographic terms

They're soldered on at the factory... You can't just cut them off if they're soldered; taking them off breaks the motherboard...
... like the CPU and GPU because they're all soldered to the motherboard in laptops
You can't upgrade that much though.. All you can feasibly do is add more RAM and an SSD. You can't change the main performance components...
Firstly, boutique desktops are never great value. Secondly, the ODE-3 STILL dumps on any macbook spec...

admittedly the second 5870 and the SSD came later, but still only at an extra £350 or so from what I remember
For reference: i7 920 @4.4Ghz, 1100w psu, 5870 Crossfired, 12Gb RAM, 2x500Gb HDD's + 1x480Gb SSD are the basic specs
I have a £950 rig ($1.4k) from 2009/10 which beats most modern high-end laptops; I'm calling BS unless he bough a gold-plated Alienware...
No he's not. There's the Steam (PC) Big Picture UI, Smash Bros (Wii) and Borderlands being played. They're just photos.
