Guys, the contempt that liberals have for lower class whites is a contributing factor as to why trump won the presidency in the first place. We can’t be all “fuck the 1%” then turn around and pull this shit.
AND the fact that same-sex relationships are seen as lesser than heterosexual ones absolutely plays into bisexual dynamics within lgbt spaces, especially when talking about the const common human sexual experiences
Hang on a second. The people responsible for oppression are other people, period. Any ‘ism or phobia isn’t a yes or no thing. It’s on a spectrum and we all have to take responsibility for our specific privileges. Trying to wash yourself of that responsibility doesn’t solve the issue.
Acknowledging privilege is not the same thing as oppression. That’s literally it. But it’s a bitter pill for people to swallow.
I mean if it’s any consolation, I also have privilege in that I pass as heteronormative. But that doesn’t mean I’m not part of the community or any less of a person than those that don’t. I just have to acknowledge my own privilege
The closest I can find to that stat is that 70% of gay men feel safe coming out to their CLOSEST friend. Which I mean yeah, hiding your spouse/partner takes a whole lot more effort than not disclosing an internal feeling. Not saying biphobia isn’t a thing. It absolutely is. Just the stat seems misleading
Acknowledging privilege is not the same thing as condemnation. Also, a closeted bisexual Bible thumper is not the same thing as an openly bisexual person in the community.
Nah I know I’m going to be downvoted to hell. But perhaps people will be ready for that conversation in another 20 years. It took a while for people to start talking about light skin privilege more openly in the POC communities.

Plenty of people on the left don’t use homophobic language because they know it perpetuates homophobia no matter the target. Political Imgur is a bubble of a specific faction of left that doesn’t have many minorities.

But rival hunter/gatherer groups have been killing each other for far longer than that. And anyone that’s not a part of your hunter/gatherer group is taking resources you need for you and your family to not starve to death.
It’s because acknowledging genetic predisposition to behavioral traits has the ethical stain of eugenics attached to it. People want to overcorrect and say “genetics has nothing to do with human behavior” instead of “don’t forcibly sterilize people.” Also we’re talking about humanity as a whole. Not race a vs race b.
Biological determinism is heavily focused on nature over nurture, which is not what this is saying. Biology can be an important puzzle piece without reduction of other factors. But ignoring that puzzle piece means we will never be able to see the full picture.

Also, “bows” are not one neat category either. Different bows were made to be used in different ways. Priorities could be range, power, economy, or being shot from horseback.
