The cops showed up to do the report. We told them what happened. When the cop found out the mailbox holder wasn’t even in the country and never has been in the country (Which the customer said over the phone. When the cops called them.) They laughed and told them to “kick rocks” as they couldn’t do anything since they do not live here, or are here physically. Customer was a nice person, and kept there mail box though.
Which there is a loophole in all this though. If you are not physically in the US, or a non US person not physically in the US, but you do business in the US. You are not protected the same way. Worked at a UPS Store back in the day. Had a person who lived in another country open a mail box with us, and forward their mail to them. One day there laptop was stolen. It said it showed up, but it didn’t, and they (mailbox holder) needed a police report for it. 1/2
