I'm the only me that has ever existed or every with exist. I'm a unique individual, always growing in love and wisdom. That's The affirmation my 8th grade teacher had us say at the beginning of class everyday. I still think about her and that little thing she did to try to tell her students they were special. Not like any of us listened to her back then. I wish I had. I wish I could go back 20+ years and somehow convince my younger self that all the pain of growing up would just be temporary, and that everything she's obsessing about isn't such a big deal. It's not important to seem cool or hard. Being kind is far more noteworthy.
