Ah, the FTR'ed conversion bringing it to No4 MK2 specs (that updated trigger!) I thought you meant the No2 rifle at first, which was a .22
The Pattern 17? I think a Pattern 14 and a Springfield 1903 would make wonderful parents. The No 2 would be a .22lr training rifle.
I think we should stage a family photo. Bundle a No 5 up with a little tuque, then you smiling, holding the No4, and a No1Mk3/SHTLE behind.

Apocalyptlas meets a No4 Mk1 in a bar, drinks are had, some music is played, and that was how the No 5 Mk1 was born.
Accurate saying yes. I wasn't saying they are junk, just that they are not elegant rifles.
2/2 of a 1940 BSA SHT LE III, and while I love them, they are not an elegant design. Beautiful in their own way yes, but not elegant.
1/2 I have an unissued 1943 Savage No4 Mk1*, and issued 1942 Savage No4 Mk*1, and a issued 1942 ROF Fazakerley No4 Mk, and a PH Conversion
As the owner of several Enfield's, I have to question your sanity when you call them elegant.
