Like in this instance, the act of giving this animal water tends to get the animals used to human interactions. This in general is not good and can lead to a whole host of other problems for the species when they start interacting more with humans

That’s one of the nuanced parts - actions that we may deem as “compassionate” to a wild animal, such as moving or even feeding them etc., can often be harmful for them. Interactions should be reserved for trained specialists who are certified and authorized to do so. The average person walking down a trail should leave wildlife alone. Not to mention it’s generally against the law everywhere to interfere
