It did boil down to doing chores for people who felt like they were actors in a play catered to you.
That being said, the combat is much more fun in more recent titles. Skyrim has better graphics but worse visual design as a whole though
Morrowind Elitist here. Anything after that was bland and "safe". sense of wonder was greatest on the alien lands of Vvardenfell.
As long as you don't like Arena & Battlespire and remember that Morrowind is the best, yes.

Actually splurging on whole TES saga now, switching back&forth, bar Arena which is just a proof of concept and Oblivion which I didn't like.
This made me feel needlessly old. I almost got annoyed. "Now hang on just a hecking minute, Morrowind isn't old it just came out..in..2002."
Morrowind is the best Elder Scrolls game, hands down. And no, not behind rose tinted nostalgia classes, I'm playing it happily again today!
Unpopular opinion. Nerevar Rising (from Morrowind) is superior to the Dragonborn. Dragonborn feels too showoffy, NR has a better buildup
