The "law" overriding the will of the people. What is this farce.

The peaceful options are running out.

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If the GOP keeps pushing the voters like this, they're going to lose & look like bigger assholes than they already do.

2 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Supreme Court judges in Virgina are appointed by the local state and house. Two of the most conservative members are up for reappointment in '28

Any questions???

There are four boxes of liberty. The first three have been destroyed or otherwise rendered unusable.

How did Rome fall? Rome never fell, it rather slowly crumbled bit by bit over a period of 200 years. There will be no "Great Fall", more a gentle, oddly quiet descent into darkness. Until one day in 100 years they will ask, "How did America fall?"

2 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

That fall has already been going on since AT LEAST Nixon, but probably a lot sooner. FDR and LBJ were the last democratic, socialist, humanist presidents. The last times things actually got better for the masses. People got more rights. More freedoms. The divide between rich and poor got smaller. But ever since, that gap has been widening, voter power has been declining, freedoms have been taken away. America's high (for white people) was in the 50's, early 60's. America has 1/2

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

been in decline for the past 50+ years. Every decade things became more unaffordable. Every decade poverty grew. Every decade rights were taken away. Accelerated by Citizens United, 2008 banking crash, 2020 Covid, Reagan, Trump, Bush. Clinton, Obama and Biden only slowed the decline but did not reverse it. Rome fell in 200 years, I think America will fall in 100 and they are halfway which seems about right. 2/2

Nope, we are not gonna make it. Religious authoritarian oligarchy is in our near future

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

"You're Christian? Ok but what KIND of Christian?" (that kinda vibe)

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The entire system is rigged by the Republicans. What kind of fucking reality do these child creeping horse fuckers live in??? They honestly believe the world is how they say it is and are completely detached from reality...

but no. we aren't gonna make it. they will win super majorities in the Senate and the House, by redistricting and rigging elections and they'll be putting everyone who isn't a married white person into camps. And no one who can, will lift a finger to stop it. 😞

2 months ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 3

I figure they put anyone who voted for Harrison or Biden into camps. They already have all the voter info or soon will.

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The dems there should just pull a trump and ignore it. What're they gonna do?

2 months ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 2

How, exactly, would ignoring it work, in this situation?

When the midterms come, and votes get counted, it will count each vote for the district the official maps say it is.

If you instead mean ignoring the court decision, and proceeding to redistrict, then we'll end up in a tug of war, and I don't know who would win it.

2 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

There's red states already doing w/e the fuck they want. Time to beat em at their own game.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I meant the latter, yes. Just do the redistricting and ignore all court orders

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

We're already in a tug of war and the Democrats are getting fucking waffle-stomped by the corrupt ass court of the GQP.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yeah that was settled when Trump got elected the second time. It was game over from that day. The US will not survive the way it has, the only thing left is how worse it will get and for how long. Long term Im with people who study this stuff, we will come out, but how we will come out is still very much up for debate.

2 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Rome isn't much of a player on the world stage these days. Neither is Constantinople. And they didn't have global warming to contend with back then.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They've forgotten that representation and impartial justice are what we all agreed to so that we wouldn't ride them out of town on a rail.

2 months ago | Likes 70 Dislikes 7

No they didn't. They just observe the ongoing fact that repeating that quip online, which is the extent of what people do, isn't ever going to actually do anything to them.

2 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

100% this. If the poster meant what they said, they would already be doing something in person. But as 99% of non magas and such will end up doing is nothing while the country and their rights are ripped down around them.

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Just ignore the ruling and keep using the map.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

To a non-American idiot, could someone explain how this is illegal, but not the one in Louisiana? Is the answer just regressives being racist?

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's a Virginia court, not a federal one, that blocked the redistricting in Virginia. So they don't need to bother bending themselves into pretzels to justify why Louisiana is okay, they just say "nuh-uh actually this for realsies is against the Virginia state constitution! Trust us bro, we're definitely not being partisan hacks!"

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think the Louisiana one relies on the Supreme Court judgement that was passed after the Virginia referendum. So yes, different legal basis, but after reading two articles, I don't really get the idea of blocking it in Virginia.

What a shitshow. Thanks for helping me out.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I feel so bad for you guys. Seriously. It's a culmination of the "It can never happen here" mentality meeting the final push of the GOP to full blown fascism.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

250 years of 'America is the best country on the planet' patriotism that has always bordered close to full blown nationalism. Combined with 100 years of "socialism is bad". America has been warned over and over and over. Nixon was a crook. They didnt care. Reagan destroyed workers foundation, nobody cared. Bush crashed the global economy, nobody cared. Trump is just late stage capitalism people have been warning about for decades. And when Trump dies, America will make the final step to fascism.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do it anyway.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I have some harsh and painful predictions for you:
He will win the midterms.
He will not leave the White House during his lifetime.
If he dies, the regime will not collapse.
No matter what the Epstein files reveal, he will never be held accountable.
If you're struggling financially right now, enjoy it while you can - it's only going to get worse.

We aren't angry enough!

2 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 4

Also: leave the country while an American passport is still worth something. And dont go to Canada, go further away. Europe or preferably Asia. If you can, liquidate your assets, sell your house, sell your car, copy all your papers, download all your data, put it on paper. Leave..... if you can.

2 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

According to Steve Bannon, the Trump regime, along with Putin, is in the process of politically manipulating not only South America but also Europe. Look at the UK today. The Brits have let Fartage ruin them and are now helping him back into power. Germany and Austria will fall; it’s all happening like dominoes. Stay away from Europe - Trump has successfully set us on fire.

2 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Thats why I said 'preferably Asia'. I'm a 60 year old white dude with no kids and when I shave my head I look like a neo-nazi, so I'll be fine. But if I were 20-30 I'd seriously consider building a life in Asia. Vietnam for instance. Or Indonesia. And china is about to become a paradise.. IF you can keep your mouth shut and do not critisize the government.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a nearly 40-year-old guy from Europe with no kids, the immigration requirements in Asia are tough. In China, it’s best to have a PhD, and it’s hardly any better in the rest of Asia. Unfortunately, emigrating these days is no longer for the average person.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Virginia democrats should do it anyway and force the issue in to the midterms.

2 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yup, thats what the GOP would do. But noooo.. Democrats always play nice.

It takes a special kind of stupid to put "No rigged maps" on a sign promoting the GOP gerrymandering. And there is a special hell for those ghouls.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Keep poking the bear. This is not going to end well. Take every opportunity from people, they have nothing left to lose.

2 months ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 4

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe the day after the Midterms Americans will understand there are no more elections, because Trump/MAGA/GOP *somehow* won again and kept House and Senate majority. But I'm 99% sure people will STILL not understand and will think they get to vote in 2028 and they think THAT is when they will oust Trump. And then when Trump is re-elected in 2028, they will think: but the NEXT midterms we will win !

2 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

People still thinking voting matters in 2026: 🍭

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It still matters, BUT it won't be what fixes things. The GOP is not giving up without a fight; they've done too much, and know that if they ever lose power, the bill comes due and puts an end to their party.

Voting still matters for optics purposes: it shows that any drastic actions taken are not an extreme minority opinion, but the will of the people.

EVERYTHING matters. Visible protests, voting, strikes (we NEED more of these), and, yes, fighting back. The GOP will ignore elections, and the

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

media will try to downplay protests, but those things will be SEEN.

A large chunk of the population is sitting at home, waiting for this to blow over. Not because they're okay with it, but because they don't think they'll make any difference. For them, we need the optics stuff. We want them to get out of the house and help. More people striking and fighting back is the goal, there.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I seriously think they still dont get it when Trump/MAGA/GOP wins the midterms in a landslide. I think even then they will think "oh well Schumer and Jeffries just could not get people to vote so thats why Republicunts won again". Not understanding the electoral landscape has been seized by SCOTUS, Musks stealing of voter data, gerrymandering into the extreme, voter suppression, the gutting of the Voting Rights Act, ICE at key voting locations etc etc. I think even when Dems get 1/2

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

destroyed in the Midterms, they will still think democracy exists and they get a chance to vote for Newsom in 2028. They do NOT understand there is no such thing as free and fair elections anymore. They do NOT understand they are already living in Putins America. 2/2

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Silly Democrats, thinking that the laws apply to you equally. The goalposts have legs.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I live in VA and refused to vote knowing this would be the outcome. Voting created the system we live in. Voting will not fix it. If you want change, drag the people responsible into the street and hang them. Voting is meaningless. It does less than nothing. If you want change, go and get it. These people have addresses.

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Thats the weird part. Only 2 judges decided to nullify the vote of 1.6 MILLION voters. And those 1.6 million people go: oh well, nothing we can do.

Weird how there is nobody in those 1.6 million people with an uncurable disease who has nothing to lose.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

are you guys starting to see what's blatant to anyone outside the us that no, november won't be saving you from trump/congress/senate. Because fascists will do whatever it takes to stay in power and only violence will get them out.

2 months ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 5

I dont understand why Americans still dont understand they dont live in a democracy anymore. Democracy ended the day Joe Biden gave the keys to Trump, on Jan 20th. The Supreme Court literally said the persident can now use the military to stage a coup if he wants to. Do they not understand Trump is THAT GUY?

2 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 4

Less than a third of the country does. About 1/3 doesn't care, and the other 1/3 is cheering for it.

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Personally I think it's 1% activists on the "extreme" left, then 1/3rd caring, 1/3rd centrists, 1/3rd right wingers and 1% extremists on the right. But the problem is, that 1% on the extreme right are the billionaires and they are in positions of power to do stuff like buy politicians and media.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

TIL that victim blaming is a-okay if the victim is the American voter! Go ahead, bring on the downvotes, y'all think we're brainless and full of false hope, instead of powerless and spirit-broken to the point of giving up.

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

What is victim blaming?

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Americans are in the exact same position as Germans were in the 1930's. We voted for Hitler. We voted for the dream. Hitler came to power with about 32% of the votes, about the same as Trump. Were my nazi grandparents victims? Were all Germans victims? Especially when yo know Hitler had 80% approval rating by 1939 just before he invaded Poland? Trump didnt come to power by accident. Trump is the result of DECADES over Americans voting against their own interest. DECADES.

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

And exactly how did Germany get itself out of that? Pretty sure they didn't bootstrap their way out of it. And they sure as hell didn't protest and No Kings March their way out of the Third Reich. What do you propose us Americans do? Or are you just content to stomp on us and call us fools for what we've been shoved into by this literal decades of bad voter faith?

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I think you're confusing a personal attack (which I'm not doing) and an attack on the stupidity of the masses (which I'm doing). I'm not saying you are stupid, I'm saying Americans are stupid. And I'm not saying that 'only Americans' are stupid. I know damn well the fascists are on the rise over here in Germany as well with AfD. I know damn well the British just overwhelmingly voted for fascists (Reform). But that does not change the fact 'we' as a group, are stupid. I do not understand how 1/2

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Then maybe dems need to stop being victims

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

In Alabama, the Republicans were finalizing redistricting during a tornado. Sirens and alarms going off, the building flooding, they kept at it.

2 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Thats the difference between Republicans and Democrats. They decide to do something and then they do it. They dont look at anything. They ignore the law, they ignore precedent. They just keep pushing and pushing till then pushed it through with ZERO negotiating with their opponent. I wished Democrats fought as hard and relentless for shit they wanted. But reality is, the DNC doesnt want what their voters want, so they wont fight for it.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In republican states they redistrict without even asking the people... in Virginia they ASK the people if they're ok to redistrict... and when the people say they're ok: "oh no, you can't do that". WTF?????

Republicans voted to block it, the 3 democrats voted to allow it.

Republicans at every level know they're about to lose, so they're going all out.

2 months ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

The reason this happened is because Virginia decided to play in good faith and implement an independent reditricting commission. If they hadn’t, the legislature probably could’ve just rammed through the redistricting.

Like all the red states are doing, for example.

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

They already abandoned democracy.

This should be a lesson and observation of the Republican model. Don't ask permission, and people won't be able to stop you.

2 months ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

Because 4 of the 7 judges are republicans. That's how the fvck.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In Virginia, the state constitution has a process for amending it that they didn't follow. That's why the referendum was struck down. In the Republican states, so far as I can tell, they did NOT violate their own state laws, and so their changes are permitted to go through. That's the cliff notes version of what happened.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Thats because its been a long time judge have not been shot in the head in front of their kids, if it happend more often people would not be asshole, but cops got that fear on you, so its much better to let the country get destroyed than go to jail right????

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why do you think the GOP spent so much time and effort blocking judges? This coup has been coming for a long time.

2 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

That's one of the big problems when you have one side who mostly plays by the rules, and another side who thinks that reading is for nerds, and rules are for suckers and losers.

2 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

The very reason the referendum was struck down is because the Democrats DIDN'T play by the rules laid down in their state constitution.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Maybe true, but Democrats, upon testing the rules to level the playing field - and getting shut down, immediately fall back into line. Unlike republicans, who flat out have entire courts telling them not to do something, and they do it anyway.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You must be confusing us with a democracy.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The *nation* of America is weak, but the *country* is strong. It’s important to understand the difference between those.

But the country itself has also been massively weakened because Trump was reelected, and it’s probably a fatal wound.

The death throes of America might last 50 years, and the next confluence of cultural export and economic power is most likely to be China. The EU or India might do it too but my bet is on China.

Thanks, low-information voters. Supporting Trump is treason!

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oops, my other reply was for someone else.

I wanted to say this to you: culturally, Americans won’t fight for themselves. They aren’t going to change without things being a whole lot worse than this - not “the police murdered a few more people” worse, or “the president’s family looted another few billion of our dollars” worse either.

More like “five million people starved to death last month” bad.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

correct. i do not disagree on that point. i just know the "five million people starved to death last month" threshold is on this trolly line we're on if no one pulls a fucking switch.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The GQP sees this midterm as an absolutely existential threat. So much so that SCOTUS was willing to expedite a redistricting case, rule quickly, and allow it to take effect, even though primaries are already in process.

There’s no limits at this point, and they’re poised to use force, if this doesn’t work.

2 months ago | Likes 50 Dislikes 0

Uh oh. Shalafi will show up with "facts" to explain how the SCOTUS is not helping Republicans.

2 months ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

I don’t doubt the willingness on the left at this point, but the right is actually in place and have plans for many levels of violence, come November.

They haven’t been hiring the worst they find without reason

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My friend, you think the left doesn't have plans for violence? You think we don't have guns? Because we don't make it part of our identity? I will point out to you that the United States has just spent nearly 60 years using poor people as cannon fodder- especially minorities. They taught us to use weapons, to plan, to overcome and adapt, and for the last 20 years they gave us a PRACTICAL education about insurgency/counterinsurgency.

They are not ready for us.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In the same way or at the same scale? No. The issue here is that the right now controls official violence. Federal agents, police, sheriffs, and the military. They’ve spent a year and a half both normalizing the idea of troops in the street, as well as training teams to use unlimited power without the possibility of punishment. In a nation that has not seen armed internal warfare in a century and a half, that’s a mind boggling advantage. They will act first, and everyone else will have to

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And you think the normal, intelligent, compassionate people will use violence and break the rules like those na%is do (and will do if they see they are going to lose)? I doubt it. Misinformation works, today even better than back when they grabbed power in Germany. And - for example - many jews didn’t believe it will happen and stayed. I really hope there will be a fair election, but we know what will happen if it’s fair. An€ so the right acts, swiftly. And nothing happens when they do 😕

You're still fighting by the rules with gloves on. Meanwhile your opponent has a gun, is raping children and tossed the rulebook out the window months ago. Democrats have been protesting. Shouting. Screaming. Holding up signs. Held impressive marches. Meanwhile the GOP has been pushing through rules that disenfracnhised MILLIONS, have deported and KILLED thousands. Compared to what MAGA is doing... the murder, the mayhem, the terror. You have been doing nothing. Takes your gloves off pls.

He was never elected the first or second time. The electoral collage appointed him, and then musk and company stole the swing states for him

Even if you dont believe in the electoral college, which is fine, then he still won his second term because he won the popular vote.

Europe and Asia *do not want* US immigrants, especially after dump's re-election. They have stricter immigration requirements than the US.

I know but it's still the best advice I can give. If you can, get out. 15-20 years from now it'll be like Putins Russia is now and Americas armies will be at war in all sorts of countries and kids will be send tot he front lines all over the planet. Same happened to Russia.

Which is kind of ironic. Maybe Europe has been harsher on immigrants that the US and were just playing catch up?

There's a lot to unpack there, unfortunately. The Statue of Liberty's plaque says "Give me your poor and wretched" and was a tacit admission that greatness was measured in grit and determination to survive. The US once prided itself on mass immigration, melting pots, and diversity. "Europe doesn't want you? Fuck them, we made our own Europe with blackjack and hookers." US gets outrage because the US made immigration part of their brand/identity, and now that's changing. Who is the US now?

A nakedly corrupt corporation with no real laws that rules over decent, lazy, or corrupt scum people.

Moving to Europe only buys you a few more years of safety. This will inevitably explode across the world like WWII did. I think especially if you’re very low on the list of people that MAGA would send to death camps (white people), you have a duty to stand and fight for this country.

What do you think happens to the rest of the world if we don’t fight tooth and nail against the Christofascists for the entire United States nuclear arsenal?

What if we think this country should burn to the ground because it was founded by greedy rich piece of shit white people and this is always been this country. This isn't a mask off situation they have always felt this way about the people in this country. You weren't going to fix this through government intervention you are only going to fix this by removing the pieces off the chessboard that don't deserve to be there and we know who those pieces are, they gather more wealth every day.
