Me too. My wife loves it. I have completely given up. It puts me to sleep and I’m tired of trying to force myself to watch it.

I don't need to be reminded how torturous life can be. I need to shut my brain off while I dump all the crap that got dumped on it today

ditto. What the fuck is this show about.

Am I the inky one who thought this was an avatar reference and came ready to defend Iroh, Bumee, and the others?

I think there are shows like that where it just doesn’t click for some of their viewers. One example for me is The Bear. I tried watching it and k couldn’t continue after 2 episodes. There are other shows of course but The Bear came to mind first.

What is a show that you enjoy just so I have a reference. I find White Lotus to be slow but that's part of it's charm. Slowly unraveling what in the hell is actually going to happen because most of your predictions go out the window.

The Residence

I can't stand Jennifer Coolidge's lame shtick, but she's off the show now. My wife likes it, so we watch it together, but yeah, it's just a whatever show. The shows that really irritate me are the ones like lost, or from, where I get the sense that the writers were just throwing ideas against the wall, then when something gets popular, they're like "oh shit, what are we going to do to keep this going?", so the show just feels like it's going nowhere forever. So boring.

I hate the format that seems to be working for them.

Everything happens in the final episode of the season, I much prefer it happen early or in the middle so they can spend the rest of the season investigating, explaining, etc.

It's good if you enjoy relatable, deeply flawed characters in off the wall situations in beautiful locations. But it's a VERY slow burn.

I will say I've only watched the first 2 seasons, but it's a high brow comedic tragedy kind of show imo.

That and Succession. Rich pricks behaving badly is a trend I'd love to see end.

The Righteous Gemstones also fits in this category, yet I really like that show. Maybe because there's some top talent in it, and a message that wins in the end. Eh, still pondering it.

It seems to me the pitch of Succession was "Arrested Development but 90% less funny"

Yeah, I struggle with shows where I don't really like any of the characters. Succession in particular. I thought it was a good show, but I don't ever need to circle back.

I find most of the oscar winning movies are mega boring. Infind White Lotus to be tranquil story telling with the anticipation of a big ending. Kind of like that Tchaikovski song where it's super slow build up to the end cannons going off

I typically call these kinds of movies, shows, songs, etc Boleros for the same reason.

Omg, Bolero by Ravel is another great example! Totally forgot about that one

1812 overture? Absolutely bangin'

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah! That one! Ends with a bang but starts rather slow. They only play the end though so people don't know about the build up to the end
