Once again, the numbers speak for themselves. Last month, a majority of House Republicans also voted against a bill to provide benefits to veterans affected by burn pit exposure. The MORE Act (H.R. 3884) would also benefit veterans as well, many of whom suffer from chronic pain, depression, and PTSD.

Which dems voted no?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thinkin bout that private prison money.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wonder how many of the people who voted Nay on that have money in private prisons.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

+1 to the maker of this for using "Yea" and not "Yay".

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also: More Democrats voted against than Republicans For OR Over ten percent of the house were too high to vote.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Let's be clear. Add the NV votes to the no total and it was 219 to 212. Non vote is a no vote.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Repubs want 0 things that benefit Americans simply because the dems want those things. 2 parties and 50% of them are anti American lol

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They shouldn’t get paid for NV.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wonder what its like to be the sole independent in there.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Neat

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I’m a veteran. Moving to Colorado has improved my health SIGNIFICANTLY. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR SENATORS AND TELL THEM TO PASS.

Former Speaker John Boehner is on the board of a cannabis company. Maybe the drug & alcohol lobbyists want them to vote against it?

Trudeau had friends basically ready to produce before he made it legal. The only people who don't profit from it is the organized crime and>

the jails. Makes no sense to vote against if it allows you to make money with legal weed.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yeah, for-profit prisons need to go away.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

So, this particular image is from 2020. The current one - H.R. 3617 - passed by 220 to 204, with 5 NV.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yep, my bad. To be clear even more Republicans voted against it this time. 220-204, 217 Dem for, 2 Dem against, 202 Rep against, only 3 for.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah. And *way* fewer "Not Voting" stances this time. Suggests it's quite polarized now.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The world is literally depending on Trump not being in office ever again. Please pull through America. -Your neighbours to the North.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

*or anyone that supported Trump. Get your shit together, America. We don't want there to be two Putins. Our ideal number of Putins is zero.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The only thing Republicans are willing to pass are funding for the military, and fascist legislation to screw over minorities. That's it.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

And you could argue there's some crossover between those two.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Republicans hate America and Americans. They are huge fans of autocracies like Russia which is exactly what Trump so very nearly achieved.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

How in the fuck are these assholes allowed to NOT VOTE? THATS LITERALLY THE ENTIRE FUCKING JOB

Yaknow, back in the early Trump presidency days there actually was a short time that pro (R) posts made front page. Not for a while now tho

Imgur was a bit more Incel-y back then too

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

To be clear, the bay majority of Americans on both sides support legalization, but the elected Republicans don't.

4 years ago | Likes 607 Dislikes 3

Why?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The US is now an oligarchy. When political decisions exclusively follow the whims of the rich and not the masses, that is oligarchy.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Doesn't the elected president also not support this act?

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Like the vast majority of issues, then. Republicans are just anti-American people.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

And the Democrats didn't until very, very recently. We begged them for decades on this issue and they just laughed at us.

4 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 2

Yeah it’s easy to forget that Democrats are basically just, like, 10 years ahead of Republicans. Not so different.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Remember how many of them been caught abusing harder drugs, usually with hookers or children. The fact they're in office not jail is insane

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Weird that Republicans aren't for personal freedom and against government overreach.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Private prisons have deep pockets

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't care about the other side of both sides arguments. Obstructionist assholes be damned!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Republicans don't support anything democrats support.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Seems like both parties represent their voters. They've been keeping their boot on veterans necks for decades. They could change but dont

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The bay majority? Looks like the edible just kicked in /s

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The corporate interests that own the republicans don't. The shills just do what they're told.

WRONG PICTURE - that is HR3884 of the previous Congress (04 Dec 2020 vote). The new bill is HR 3617: https://clerk.house.gov/Votes/2022107

4 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Surprisingly similar. It’s like they vote along what their puppet master party says and not what’s in the bill. Hmm

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good catch. My bad. Even more Republicans voted against it this time. 220-204, 217 Dem for, 2 Dem against, 202 Rep against, only 3 for.

Read up on SD legalization and how an 8% margin in favor of legalization was overturned by Gov. Noem. Yep GOP barbie says FU citizens

4 years ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 0

8% margin isn't a very big one. That's 54% to 46%. Also was that a poll or a referendum?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

Thats a pretty big gap. Also it doesn't matter, if the people vote for it, it should pass

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Oh I agree. Just a referendum has way more weight than just a poll

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fuck Kunty Noam! I hope my fellow SDans will help get rid of this bitch. She's corrupt AF and always has this orange ring around her mouth.

Lots of things pass the house and are totally ignored by the senate

4 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Bills that have passed the senate: The American Rescue Plan Act, Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and Juneteenth. That's it.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Nice! Sucks the Republican Party holds the senate and won't let it though though. Can the president force it through by executive order?

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 6

Republicans don't hold the Senate. If every Senator votes straight party, Dems have it by 1 vote with VP Harris as the tiebreaker.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

True, but to close debate on a topic, you need 60/40. So again, as always, nothing moves. The filibuster is fucking stupid.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh, I didn't realise that they lost the effective majority in the senate. Nice.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I don't think so. But the President could pardon everyone ever convicted or to be convicted of the crime.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Sounds inefficient, but possible. Like it could be used as a threat v

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

President isn't permitted to take any action to create, remove, or change laws as far as I'm aware. Doing so would be impeachable.

For curiosity's sake, I wonder who are the five republicans who voted yea

4 years ago | Likes 90 Dislikes 0

The few who have already invested in the industry I assume.

Was it 12 or so by the end?

you might be thinking of the insulin price cap bill, I believe that one was 12.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Gaetz's hands feel some things alright, and they should definitely stop. Possibly by removing them.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Frankly, I think illegal weed would be more of a draw, but the cheaper weed would decrease the cost of his operation, sooo...

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Illegal weed dealers have too much self-respect to sell to him.
