It looks awfully similar to the Micron 660 ION which is 245TB, and not at all like 524.

I'm guessing that grid of ICs must be 16TB chips, the bit one near the connector is the main control, and the two on the side are memory controllersor multiplexers or something.

i have to assume its double sided, so 32 8tb nands, because i'm not sure if we're at 16tb chips that small yet

The side two are likely RAM. SSDs need some amount of RAM, bare minimum for caching mapping and wear leveling, ideally more for write caching, expensive ones even add read caching. While cheap SSDs will integrate a little SRAM into the controller chip, higher-performance ones will use separate RAM, sometimes stacked on the controller die, sometimes separate on the PCB. With 256TiB of raw NAND, they probably need a lot of RAM just to store allocation data.

Not really, no, but my own drawings, and sketches, plans and projects, as well as my Kindle and Kobo collections. I have seriously considered digitizing my CD and DVD collections, even my vinyls, but I have no idea if I can or how much space they will take up. Know any programs that can copy disks?

Windows at least used to be able to rip songs off CDs. I used to use handbrake with libdvdcss to rip DVDs. Vinyl is a bit trickier, as you need specialized hardware. I haven't done it myself, but because the audio quality off vinyl is better than CDs, I would save them as FLAC files.
