These are great, but what do you do once you build them? Do you dissemble and toss in the giant bin of lego blocks, or do you make a shine, moving it from home to home (and then retirement home?), dusting it for the next 40 years?
Ive been saving my birthday/christmas money for this since it got announced, Putting 01/06 in my agenda to order this, it's expensive but it's a beautiful set by the looks of it.

I was thinking Lego doesn't need to advertise, but the movie franchise can still get some juice out of it. So maybe this ad was funded by the movie franchise, rather than by Lego.
Hmm this is lofty. Printing individual lego pieces is hard, due to size (tolerance), quality (smooth parts), and repeatability (farmable). Larger sections? Post cleaning&coloring becomes the challenge. Also, not lego, just cool miniature sets. Ok, multi-filament printers? +$1000 min. Resin? Also +1000, and exchanging fine detail for more post-work. Pay a local print farm? Maybe they'll let you borrow a 3d scanner. Not to mention all the 3d editing. Wow I'm stressed thinking about this now.
To solve the sice Problem. Print the Lego Bricks as Duplo bricks, works fine with a 0.2 nozzle. But i would use closed printer for 500 Bucks for ABS. And then you have a LARGE Minas Tirith
Wait a little while longer. 3D printers are so close to LEGO quality prints. Of course your electricity bill will be higher from running your printer 24/7. Still probably cheaper than a Minas Tirath set.

I look at things like the company Czinger 3D printing an entire chassis for their car. A car that tops out at 250mph. If that can be done how hard can it be to precisely print two pieces of plastic and have them snap together?
They use both, but even after having spent years of research and millions of dollars, the 3D printed bricks are just barely starting to clear the quality control now. And that is only for certain figures that arent used structurally.
