#13 pretty sure Chakotay’s made-up version of indigenous beliefs is the only Earth-based spirituality you’ll ever see in the franchise. Roddenberry was dogmatically antitheist & didn’t want religion referenced in the show.

#11 I don't get the Jellico memes, what do they mean? I didn't watch TNG too much.

5 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They are just puns put into the TNG setting.

Gene’s story was the inspiration. He either forgot, was in denial, or was simply upset that he did not get to sign off on it.

Knowing Gene, cocaine and wanting to be a dick in search of all the possible money, for more cocaine.

To be unfair-- Shatner's original vision involves the crew finding out Satan is real, proving that higher-power beings do exist. Roddenberry's original vision involves the crew learning that God is really just a defective robot that has visited humanity for countless millenia.

And then there's TAS, where we find Lucifer is actually a decent bloke whose actual name is Lucien, helps out the crew, and is helped in return when he's put on trial.

That’s fair too.
