"The sword likely meant to convey 'made by a Scythian" ' but the proper way to write that would have been: Scytha Fecit “a Scythian made this.” If it meant to say "Scythian Artist" Its fine if ambiguous on gender but it uses Scythia as a noun. Which is... weird but acceptable. However the proper way to do that would have been: ARTIFEX SCYTHIAE.

That ususally was done for women who used bows in wartime. A lot easier to use a bow and arrow without a perky mound getting in the way.

Amazon, from the Greek "a-" prefix meaning "without" and "mazōn" meaning "breast". The legend goes the Amazons would remove their right boob so they could effectively draw a bow.

This would be a MAJOR medical procedure, and still is, so the likelihood that they could perform this surgery 2500 years ago in any kind of successful way without killing 99.9% of the "patients" is also pretty much zero.

Even the Incans had a survival rate for trepanning of only a little over 80% according to the Smithsonian's 160 studied skulls. I'd think that's probably as good as it gets for major surgery pre modern antibiotics, and 20% chance for death to get a sleight supposed archery advantage isn't worth it.
