Rinse repeat for the sequel. It's official, men are confirmed stupid.

plz ask your wife to do Bird Cage next.

Wasn't Ripley a man for a good chunk of the script writing? I could be wrong.

As a female engineer, I concur. I also fully believe that’s exactly how it would really go

That's basically every horror movie ever. "Nobody listens to the smart person, and then everybody but the smart person dies."
Bigcurly2000
The scenes where they're all arguing, not listening to each other (especially to Ripley) and at turns getting aggressive, despondent, 1/2
and hysterical, did an AMAZING job of raising the viewer's anxiety, because they were reacting to the situation realistically.
DrKonrad
She's totally right

This is so nuts. This is crazy. I mean Ripley, listen to yourself.

This is like semi-boomer humor for back patting moms. Get outta here with that shit

Favorite review ever is Walter Kerr on the play the movie Cabaret is based on. Its called I Am A Camera, he wrote "Me no Leica".
Higure
Reviewing the movie "Isn't it romantic?" with "No."

I thought that story was made up, but it really is Canon.

On the other hand, Ripley did tend to leave doors open when there was a dangerous alien in a room

Trash take. Rip says 'ur quarantined.' Android screws them. Then Rip says f this, nuke the ship, every1 2 escape pod,every1 says 'i'm w Rip'
part of what makes the movie work is the crew is just a working team doing a job. there is no BS about undervaluing women.
bigblindguy
They DO listen to Ripley, pretty often, it's just that there are murderous xenomorphic aliens running around eating people and raping them.
MiyamotoSakura
Okay, Linda..... correct, but tone it down. We are in a workplace environment.

Lord of the Rings Trilogy : “Walk, walk, walk, Fight, fight, fight.”

Seriously. I doubt that they couldn't have sent down a drone, seen that everyone is dead and there's an infestation, then safely nuked it.

I forgot how cold and matter of fact this line was delivered. Can see it plainly even without hearing it.

Best review I've read: Jaws is a movie that, if played in reverse, is about a shark that vomits so many people they have to open a 2nd beach
WeeBabySeamus22
When played in reverse, 127 hours is the inspiring story of a man that finds an arm in the desert
Colopty
That's a joke plot summary, not a review.
JustAnotherRandomCommenter
oh good. somebody said it. none of these are reviews! they would be terrible reviews as they tell prospective viewers the plot!

My claim to fame is that I visited the set of the film, as my father supplied a lot of parts for the set. 1/2
He was upset when 8yo me was not allowed to see the film when it came out... 2/2

Devils Advocate here: it was the android ash that let dallas, lambert, and cain back on the ship.

Dallas and Lambert insisted on being let back in. Dallas ordered Ripley to open the doors. Ash did it, but only because the others couldn't

AFTER Ripley ordered them to be quarantined...

Wasn't the cast written without gender and they cast based solely on auditions? Love that idea.
SomeoneTookMyUsernameToo
Have you ever been mistaken for a man?
Emjayen
Yes, however it was assumed the lead would be male; it was a producer/executive who actually suggested it be played by a woman.
And in a cast full of big names, the real main character is the unknown woman

Holy shit! I had no idea, that's incredible. Ripley is right up there with Sarah Connor as the most badass female leads EVER
dasklaus
I think her written as a man (or gender neutral) has everything to do with that. Wish people would do it more often.
Absolutely, couldn't agree more! I'm so glad yall clued me into this story
An executive made a good artistic decision? I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later.
itsaduck182
When I first watched it I assumed that Dallas was the main character. So when he died I was left in shock haha. Great little swerve.
