Imagine being so attractive you could just make faces, and people would find it interesting. No I'm not jealous. I'm envious. There's a difference.

Emily Ellen Rudd. Stars in the live action "One Piece".

#12 This movie freaked the shit out of me when I saw it in theaters as a kid. Yes... I am fucking old.
ItHappenedInThe20thCentury
Same. I had to ask my mom to leave the theater and only watched it in its entirety several years later.
pluralone
As a kid? I saw it in theaters as an adult. ... Yep I'm old.
TheVaal
I was working as a projectionist when it came out. We are old.

#10 listen, I'm not trans, but if wearing a dress gets someone to call me cute, then let's go.
ItHappenedInThe20thCentury
right? Sometimes I think I should give crossdressing a go. Regrowing the stache will be shit but hey, might be worth it.

Being able to make life so much better it would be totally different with a single decision does sound like la-la land ideation, but the opposite would be easy.

I more like believe that we cumulate things, and we have things within us that make certain possibilities open to us
dreikommavierzehn
Every single day, any single moment you could randomly win something through some ominous lottery showing up at your door handing you a million out of nowhere. Changes your life instantly. Unlikely? Hella. Possible? Yes.
More possible and equally life changing? You could have a stroke at any moment, on any day, and it will impact you for the rest of your life just as well.
65454685132465846865163
it's like believing that radiation might give you superpowers
dreikommavierzehn
as long as they don't violate the laws of physics, sure why not. Improbable does not mean impossible, which was the point of that "philosophical" picture.
ItHappenedInThe20thCentury
People always freak out about minuscule actions that could change the whole present when you talk about time-travel to the past, but never consider present small actions that can completely alter the future.
65454685132465846865163
the future is absolutely immutable because of one fact: people are predictable. Every human action is a direct result of experience and circumstance. All "want" is an outcome of this, so the only true expression of human free will is to do something you don't want to do, for no reason. Except now that I've told you this, it has become a part of your experience and circumstance, and you're either the type of person who will predictably want to test this statement or predictably ignore it.

I remember when she was youtube, now she is Nami. Shit cray!

It took me a while to realise Nami's actress was "that girl from all the internet gifs/videos doing the faces". Had no idea that was her

S02 one piece won't come out until 2026, I NEEDS IT NOW. I did not expect to love the live action adaptation as much as I did
Mossberg85
Yeah, I usually avoid the live action stuff, but that was amazingly well done and I loved her in it.
graehall
Her story arc was heartbreakingly great and she absolutely nailed the performance. The Live Action managed to balance the utterly absurd with the truly personal tragedies so well. Hats off to the folk who made it, they understood the assignment
dreikommavierzehn
Loved her as Marcille's voice actress, "Gentle explosions..."

#3 I hate uncertainty because I see what happens when I leave my fate in the hands of others. They mangle it and say they mean well. And most of them don't even know what they've done.
aducksayswhat
I think when most people say they like uncertainty (or drama, or chaos, etc) they mean in some designated constrained predictable area of their life that doesn't cascade out into other areas, including ones that aren't easy to fix. Social media including imgur has a problem with unsolicited advice to make the poster feel good or telling others what they want them to do while not doing so themselves.
TheVaal
So, don't leave it in the hands of others. Make your own choices. Plot your own course. Take responsibility for your own happiness. I know it sounds so fucking stupid... yet that is what I have been doing. A little here and there... I'm not done yet, but I'm enjoying the journey.
Vysard
Can't. Life forces me to leave it in the hands of others. Employers, friends. "Take responsibility for your own happiness" is impossible when most of it requires sums of money I've been struggling to attain my entire life and the bill just keeps getting bigger with time, inflation, and morons at the helm.
I don't have the money to just run away and abandon all responsibility. And I have no one to rely on to shoulder anything. And this downward spiral has been going for more than a decade.
TheVaal
Look for ways you can take some of your power back without needing money. I took me 55 years to figure that part out. May you find what works for you sooner,
Vysard
...I just said I can't without money. Bills don't pay themselves. And I've only got so much energy for effort when I'm burned out at work every week. Where two days off isn't even enough to rest, let alone take care of necessities. In order to make things better, I need people I can rely on (there are none) or sums of money to pay for services to do what I don't have the time or energy or ability for.
So it's up to me to work and still somehow make this world a better place on zero battery.
TheVaal
You make the world a better place by being you. We all do what we have to. I'm old enough to retire in a few months but can't because of debt. I still find joy in the things that I used to let go unnoticed. It gives me a sense of peace.
