Closer, baby /gallery/mBUu4Jd

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I would love for them to use any other song than Closer for things like this now and again

It comes down to this, your kiss, your fist..

Head Like A Hole is originally by Devo, and Hurt is Johnny Cash's song now

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

It is not Johnny Cash's song now, it's his song /too/.

What’s Yacht Rock?!! What happens to rock on a yacht?? I’ve never been on a yacht!!

2 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 1

Boats and hoes

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's more suited for the Orcas taste, I assume

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's... a vaguely described sub-genre of soft rock. Basically anything Jeff Porcaro played drums on.

Boat shoes, no tomorrow and no regrets!

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

And you never will be with those questions

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We call people who make this music "Rock Yachtsters" and I am jumping from the window even as I type this I regret nothi

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

"nothi"? He must have died while typing it.

Never heard of Yacht Rock before. My life is now tremendously changed. WHERE HAS IT BEEN ALL MY LIFE??

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Update. Had a listen through a playlist and honestly it isn't that new to me, but I had it named something like "sexy time music" in my head.

On a yacht.

Spreadsheet put together by the podcast folks who coined the term. Though the internet at large disagrees with them on some points.

Any version of old NiN works. Richard Cheese covered the lounge genre years ago.

My favorite Cheese cover is Down With the Sickness. Thanks mostly to the Dawn of the Dead Remake

Played a lot of his stuff at our wedding reception, only one couple said anything

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

My partner loves Richard Cheese dang. Didn't realize so many were fans.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Honestly, it's kind of better than the original...

2 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 14

At the very least, it's more in line with what my aged body can do on the dance floor without permanent injury.

Blasphemy! Infidel! Burn the witch!

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Same vibe for Hurt by Johnny Cash. Everyone thinks that one is the original now.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think they are very different and I appreciate both of them for that

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I dig the vibe, but I vehemently disagree with ya on this. Now Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt, yes. Definitely. I read somewhere that even Trent Reznor loves it more than his version.

2 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 3

I hate to disagree with Reznor but the NIN version is better. Not by much. But unique.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Reznor said "It's his song now"

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

He doesn't like it more, he shared the ownership with Cash, saying it's his song too, because it was originally too personal for him to want to share.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Didn't he 'give' it to him? Something like that. My brain is soup.

Reznor "It's his song now"

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thank you for clearing that up. Muchly appreciated.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

It's a bit of a pet peeve of mine, because it feels like people mking that statement almost invalidates the thousands of fans who've loved it for years. It is still a NIN song, and many of us prefer the original version. You were nothing but nice about it, though, not talking about you.
