Ever wonder why psychics never win the lottery and you never see faith healers in the hospital?

I think most believers think prayers was heard since diseases are gone

13 hours ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Eradicated diseases brought back, by stupid, fucking Republicans: Measles. I wouldn't be surprised to see Polio return.

Got a very Christian friend who thankfully is not unpleasant about it. She was discussing how something in her family was stigmatized because they were taught to pray etc etc. and I said “look, people prayed about it and look around at how much knowledge we have and what we can do about it. Seems like the science was how the prayers got answered. Seems like not using it is an affront to God’s gifts.” Funny to watch dawning realization creep across someone’s face.

the Socratic method in action. you cannot always just give someone the answer. they have to be questioned and guided to finding the answer themselves.

(of course, this presupposes that they have some small reasoning ability as well.)

Hers is……. Limited. But it clearly never had occurred to her to think sbout it like that.

Like that story (I forget where I heard it). Terrible flooding. Guy is stuck on the roof of his house. Someone comes by on a raft offering to help and he says “no. God will save me”. Same thing with fire dept sending a boat or something. Says same thing. Guy in a helicopter lower and ladder and he still refuses. “God will save me”. House collapses and he’s swept away and drowns. Gets to heaven and asks god why he didn’t save him. “I sent you a raft, a boat, and a damn helicopter.”

Religion is, still, a fucking disease!

Oh, but that one time a dude who has no historical evidence behind his existence cured one guy of leprosy, an incurable disease at that time! Checkmate, atheists!! (/s because god it gets hard to tell)

Diseases brought back by Anti-Science Theocrats in just the past 2 years: Chicken Pox, Measles, Polio, Smallpox, mumps, whooping cough, pertussis... Hey MAGA; Are you tired of all this "winning" yet?

According to my family, my uncle's cancer was eradicated by prayer. But nobody talks about the gene therapy that might have helped.

3 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Another disease eradicated by science: Influenza Type B was eliminated in humans during the 2020 COVID pandemic because of masking, social distancing, and limited social contacts.

Don’t worry. This administration will make diseases great again.

3 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Depends on your definition of diseases. If you consider some races of people to be diseases (like a true religious dickhead would), you likely don't have the time to manually populate that list.

5 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nuh, all of them were eradicated by prayer because godmagic made scientists to cure the diseases!

4 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I prayed for those diseases specifically to be wiped out and my prayers were answered by science. Hallelujah.

I can provide a list by religion of child sexual abuse in Australia. Catholic church way out in front but there was one religion with NO cases of child sexual abuse... Muslim. So all you folks who don't like Islam might like to think about that. https://www.childabuseroyalcommission.gov.au/

Disclosure: I think all religions are a waste of space.

Do the same list but with diseases brought back by Republican policies.

More than half of that list.

imagine being afraid of warming milk up slightly to kill bacteria. between the ivermectin, the right-wing companies bribing trump to drop regulations, the raw milk, and the general fear of everyone who isn't them, I now understand why the most prominent MAGA official needs to have a diaper bag every where he goes AND why none of his followers seem concerned that he's always shitting his pants.

There's a reason why ambulances take sick and injured people to hospitals rather than churches.

14 hours ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 1

Well yeah, getting molested isn’t likely to help any.

4 hours ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Hospitals cost less?

5 hours ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

My father, trying to convince me acupuncture really worked, not giving me an answer when I asked if that was really the case then why wasn't it a treatment at the hospitals.

(Acupuncture has *some* effects on nausea and chronic pain, but not the arm long list of benefits acupuncturists want the populace to believe)

4 hours ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The answer is "because it isn't a profitable pharmaceutical." Western medicine, including hospitals, are obsessed with two things: manufactured drugs and scalpels. My entire life in the 20th century, the MD-recommended solutions to back pain, shoulder pain, whiplash, tendinitis, etc. was painkillers/ice, cortisone injections, and if those didn't work, straight to surgery. Surgery, for fucking tendinitis, because those choades couldn't admit PT works until the 90's.

3 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The doctors wanted my dad to get actual surgery for *tennis elbow* ffs. He said to hell with that, and went to the closest thing we had to walk-in PT in the 80's (chiropractors). Took the chiropractor three months, but she cured Dad's elbow with soft tissue work, exercises, and posture correction. No surgery.

Yes, because doctors are a hive mind who will hide useful stuff that works from the population. Yes. Not at all because it's mythical claptrap on the level of religion and that tests done with 900 patients have shown the long list of mythical properties remain mythical. If you want to science denial then carry on, but bring some medical journals backing it up instead of anecdotes.

2 hours ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Uh, they are and they will do that, and if your stick a couple of martinis in one after work they'll actually admit it.

Here you go, enjoy: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK532287/

Man, the link literally says what I mentioned: of the long list of mythical properties acupuncture is said to have by acupuncturists it has two that have been proven to work: nausea and chronic pain.

From the link: "Most commonly, acupuncture has been indicated for pain, chronic and acute, and for nausea and vomiting, both postoperative, peripartum, and chemotherapy-induced."

The effect of placebo also messes the results since the studies done with real acupuncture and fake (called sham in the

Diseases brought back or revived by RFK Jr:

1. Measles
2. Tuberculosis
3. Cancer
4. Polio
5. Hantavirus

4 hours ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I'm really confused how you think cancer, terberculosis or hantavirus was ever gone in the US. They have diminished over time, but never gone. It appears polio is still considered eliminated in US, and I can't find a case this year. Measles seems to be your only fact.

Only thing eradicated by prayer is indigenous people.

It's truly incredible how many times more blood christianity has on its hands than any other cause or entity in all of history. Most of the bloodshed and atrocities in the western world for two thousand years can be either directly or indirectly attributed to christianity, and same goes for the other places in the world christianity was spread to, since the time it arrived.
