Ad blockers are in an arms race with ads. They will be interrupted from time to time, but they always update and are again usable.

My adblocker is working wonderfully well. Every once in awhile I have to update it, but that's it. If youtube ever fully stops it, I'm out.

Untrue, there is a way around it. I googled it a few days ago, found a list of filters to add to ublock origin. I had to logout of my YT account for 48 hours to reset experimental tags put on my account and then the filters did the rest. Now YT thinks i'm watching ads again.

Yes, but they're using bullshit tactics to make it an awful experience for adblock users. Which is why it takes so long for the page to load in the first place, and the "are you experiencing issues?" pop-up at the bottom left of the screen to try and make you think it's a problem on your end.

It’s software whose business model is selling ads. Their original pitch was hiding ads that pay creators, ands inserting their own ads. Just because you have that turned off, doesn’t change what it is.

I'm not sure where you're getting your information from, but it is inaccurate. The "ad reward" system that you're describing is an opt-in model. Not opt-out. We haven't "turned it off" because it's off & disabled by default. It's a voluntary thing you can do if you want to support them by viewing their ads over others... So yes, it DOES change entirely what it is, as it's not even remotely adware (which automatically displays ads BY DEFINITION) or what you describe.
