So I've decided to make this a bit of a thing. I've been able to do it on a fairly regular weekly basis so far. I'm told my knowledge pool and google-fu are decent-ish, and I believe knowledge is best when shared. Silly questions get interesting answers, hyper technical questions get an attempt at answers, and sincere questions get sincere answers, and my upvote. Remember when all is said and done, I'm here to learn just as you are, and share what I find.
Answers to the most FAQs so far**:
* The average cruising airspeed velocity of an unladen European Swallow is roughly 11 meters per second, or 24.6 miles an hour. The African swallow is ~8.9 meters per second, or 20.1 miles per hour.
* 42.
* Sorry, I don't have my credit card available at the moment.
* "Why?" Why not?
* "Why not?" Because. Usually.
* "No really, why?" Because you learn a person's true nature through their curiosity.
* "How are you?" I'm alright. https://imgur.com/gallery/j9ALITD
* "What're you up to?" The obvious aside, job hunting. Generally something remote that allows me to help others instead of getting yelled at. (e.g. Customer Service)
* "(Quote from a movie)." Not a question, but that's a good reference.
* "(Quote from a movie that's a question)." (Response in movie to quote. Usually.)
* "Favorite question?" Anything that makes people stop and think, in a good way.

It appears you accidentally a word. Retry?
InspiringBadger
What animal would you most like to have as a pet? For this scenario, you will have a friendly and housebroken specimen, so pick anything.
OnePostCloserToAHappierLIfe
One cat, or two dogs, for a "normal" answer. For more exotic...likely a tiger. Even more exotic? Pern-inspired dragons.

How much do you think my head weighs?
OnePostCloserToAHappierLIfe
I've been told that the human head is approximately the weight and heft of a bowling ball, so somewhere around 10-12 lbs/(4.5-5.4 kg).
imworthyourtime
How many refrigerators is the height of a stegosaurus?

More than two.

In countries that use celsius does the thermostat only use full degrees like my fahrenheit one? or can you dial it to half a degree?
OnePostCloserToAHappierLIfe
Most thermometers can do XX.X°C. Some can do XX.XX°C, but they tend to be the exception.

Where in the world is Carmen Santiago?
OnePostCloserToAHappierLIfe
On a vacation with Wally Waldo. But I promised not to tell where, sorry.
cletusincognetus
Crunchy or smooth peanut butter?
OnePostCloserToAHappierLIfe
I enjoy the texture of crunchy. My exposed nerves do not.
MrAsbestos
Who is Mike Jones?
OnePostCloserToAHappierLIfe
Which one? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Jones
OnePostCloserToAHappierLIfe
More besides, if you're referring to the title, that's a title, not a question.
ProppaGanda
She's not my ex, we've never met, but do you still think of me?
OnePostCloserToAHappierLIfe
Is this a reference to something?
ProppaGanda
(it's a song)
OnePostCloserToAHappierLIfe
Ah. It doesn't...seem like the healthiest song I've ever heard to be honest. Insofar as the storyteller sounds a bit like a stalker.
ProppaGanda
Plot twist: it's actually about his ex.

What is meaning?
OnePostCloserToAHappierLIfe
What isn't?
Thefuckening
How long between first contact with an alien civilization and a human fucks an alien
OnePostCloserToAHappierLIfe
Ultimately, it comes down to biological compatibility. We've watched far too much "human aliens". But...somewhere between 8 hours to 6 wks.
Thefuckening
Sounds reasonable

Would you prefer a job where you did nothing but got a shit wage or work you're arse off and get a great wage?
OnePostCloserToAHappierLIfe
Of the two, the former. Because I could use it to live humble for a bit and study up on a better job.
SpaceHaggis
Nice
OnePostCloserToAHappierLIfe
And now a fun question for you: In your username in reference to the ISS?
SpaceHaggis
No but I did see it going over Scotland about 5 years ago

are aardvarks our friends
OnePostCloserToAHappierLIfe
They are wild animals, and should be treated accordingly. Friendly, but with a minimum safe distance.

Do sperm have souls?
OnePostCloserToAHappierLIfe
I don't know that I could see how. While the science behind sperm is fascinating (https://www.microscopemaster.com/sperm-cells.html), I 1/
OnePostCloserToAHappierLIfe
maintain a far more agnostic view, as well as being an optimistic nihilist. And I think it's important that if it cannot be taken care of 2/
OnePostCloserToAHappierLIfe
after it is born, how is that "pro life"? But I also know that is a religious debate and I try not to get into those. /3

when do we get to see photos from the Webb satellite?
orngeturtl
Read that as “weeb” satellite and wondered what new astronomer-centric anime was out
OnePostCloserToAHappierLIfe
Never soon enough.
OnePostCloserToAHappierLIfe
But to be fair, it takes time to photoshop out UFOs.
HumanFromPlanetEarth
OnePostCloserToAHappierLIfe
Oh, I'm sure we'll figure it out...eventually...

OnePostCloserToAHappierLIfe
Scotty says the data is correct: It's Green.

Have you ever had a pet and can I hear about it?
OnePostCloserToAHappierLIfe
Family pets, yes. Unfortunately I use alphanumeric codes saved in a file for those silly "security questions". But good try!
OlofBorrbrottsson
A/S/L?
OnePostCloserToAHappierLIfe
Old enough to talk/Never enough/Milky Way...I think.
iristhorne
How can I maintain contact with my parents as a person who is probably going to stop attending church when I can finally afford to move?
OnePostCloserToAHappierLIfe
The same as you would every other day of the week. If they choose to stop talking because they believe faith is tied to a building, that 1/
OnePostCloserToAHappierLIfe
is ultimately their choice. /2
OnePostCloserToAHappierLIfe
Ultimately, they have to be the ones to accept that you are still you, as you have accepted that they are them.
iristhorne
Very wise thank you. That makes me feel better.

what's the coolest D&D baddie
OnePostCloserToAHappierLIfe
In what context? As a player or a DM, and what is the location of the battle?
clearlyselfloving
DM, location agnostic
OnePostCloserToAHappierLIfe
Depending on theme, there's Bagmen, Mugwampi, Swarm of Maggots, Chain Devil, Mind Flayer, and of course, the Tarrasque.
clearlyselfloving
oohhhh, bagmen
OnePostCloserToAHappierLIfe
For a possible TPK, I'd recommend two Night Hags and 4-6 Mugwampi
