While correct, the same is said of basically every single economic theory to date. Even communism still relies on centralised control of wealth and resources for distribution even under Marx’s poorly defined explanations of what he meant- he still advocated for central authorities, especially during the transitional stages. The major factor here is state control vs individual/corporate control, and a combined socialist/capitalist idea has already seen SOME success in some nations already.

The fact that there "isn't anything we can do about it" is pretty much all the proof you need that the "it's so powerful it could destroy us all" thing is a lie. If it was, we wouldn't be debating it on the news, we'd be watching the Marines go in, the companies would be nationalized, whether or not a law authorized it. And other countries (especially China) would be moving to destroy ours.
States, especially superpowers, do not idly ignore existential threats to themselves.

Corporations and governments are run by the same deeply irrational, often stupid, and sometimes outright crazy hairless apes. Then their CEO pens an open letter calling for various things that would make it extremely hard for new companies to compete, and within hours the CEOs of every other big US AI firm have put out statements agreeing with it. The goals are multiple but aligned. Increased "regulation" punishes new entrants far more than any established player. So does hard-wall cutting off chip sales to China.
I think they're also going to push for a government buyout of AI firms, under the logic that it's too dangerous to remain in private hands but the people who invested in it deserve their money back. And thus the taxpayer ends up on the hook when the bubble bursts.

As much as I normally hate to advocate for direct violence... we saw in the wake of the United Health CEO being assassinated that it LITERALLY saved lives. Thousands of people who would have been denied because the company doesn't care about them had their perfectly reasonable claims approved, because the wealthy were scared enough to make concessions in the name of personal safety.

Not only were the French revolutions utter failures, they didn’t actually do much damage to the nobles they intended to overthrow, and wound up slaughtering WAY more peasants than they ever did nobility only to then turn around and re-install the monarchy anyway. The French really aren’t the example people should be following.
What people should REALLY want is something more like the Glorious Revolution or Carnation Revolution, which actually succeeded.

Except it didn’t. The French revolutions reinforced monarchy in Europe, doubled down on slavery, and collapsed attempts at democracy for years after. It wasn’t until Napoleon collapsed under FOREIGN intervention that France truly actually won democratic freedom from the nobles and monarchies of Europe, and even then it wasn’t even the French that did it, but Britain of all people, who maintained their monarchy until way later.

Napoleon was on paper the antithesis of what the revolution was trying to achieve, but he actually ended up accomplishing alot of the things the revolutionary government's had failed at.
And in the aftermath his reign had shaken up the old order to such an extent that complete regression was impossible.
