He was NOT being careless. He was 100 yards away. Yellowstone's minimum recommended distance is 25 yards. Another truck startled the bison, and the bison charged the dude instead.

He was not careless, he was literally following every reasonable precaution, a hundred yards away looking through binoculars and ran the moment it stood up and got the kid out of there. It was surrounded in a campsite and agitated attacking random people, the truck pissed it off and it charged and then redirected its ire towards him. You can laugh at the memes but don't make shit up about his morals.

You weren't entirely wrong either, its not all white and black, sometimes the white get a little grubby. In almost every other situation the animal would be punished and the human would have been a douchebag who was bothering it and deserved it. Its just a lesson in learning context before assuming something for the future. Its easy for bias to sneak up on you after you see something happen so many times.
