A healthy adult canine needs to urinate 3-5 times a day. Most domestic dogs are only walked 1-2 times a day. Imagine if you had to hold it in for up to 8 hours (which, btw, increases the risk of bladder stones and urinary tract infections). It'd be your favorite time of the day too when you finally get to relive yourself. Ask any Amazon warehouse worker.

My dogs have a dog door so 24/7 outside access and they still get super excited and pee 30 times on a walk

I walk my dog 5 or 6 times a day and each walk is at minimum 10 minutes long. Between his walks he gets the option to go out back and lay in the grass and sun bathe. The longest gap he is home alone during the week is 5 hours. I couldn't imagine only walking him twice a day. He would tear my house apart.

I think they also just really like peeing on new things. My boy has access to the backyard all day, but he still gets super excited when I take him out for daily walkies.

Yeah, my boy pees so many times on a walk that the tank runs dry *and* eventually he manages to pee a little more. All over the course of like 20-30 minutes
