yeah, we had a Wendys close to the airport here, that closed down.
Problem also, friend's daughter tried to work for them, because she's slightly autistic, she got stuck with a manager who kept pushing her to do stuff she wasn't trained for, and then yelled at, blamed her, and wrote her up for not getting proper work done.
Eventually she was fired, and later got work at Taco Bell. They treat her MUCH better there.
She's as close to being manager as she wants. Which isn't much. Also no car.

It's good to shift corporate business to more local ones. It's a different economy with different jobs.
Boycotting over Gaza caused all 500+ KFC/Pizza Huts to close in Türkiye but people still need to eat so the economy shifts to the locally-owned eateries:

A new one just opened up in my small town a few weeks ago. I stopped in to get a quick bite, then saw the menu prices. No combo item was under $10; even a basic burger and fries was at least like $10.79 or something. So I went to BK instead, and got a meal for like $8

The Reddit thread on this confirmed my worst fear that the food quality has also tanked. I'll just stick with my memories of 80s Wendy's rather than ruin them with a crappy burger.

They were taken over by private equity a few years ago as with all things that private equity touches (which should be illegal for them to touch anything) inevitably whatever it is is drained and gutted and then stripped for parts until it no longer functions.

"...Focuses on value" when did any corporation "focus on value"? That's just a stupidly transparent catchphrase for "we are going to charge more and give the customers less"... the eternal shitification of everything. Literally every corporation that makes that claim hikes prices and cuts value.

I used to love Wendy's, but the service has been absolutely abysmal for at least a decade or more. Every location I've been to is super slow, and the employees are often surly. It takes 20 minutes to get two combos without modifications if you're lucky. McDonald's is faster and Taco Bell is even faster still. I'm citing experience from locally and on road trips/vacations over the years.
