Measles Are Going Around
SMarkt
Oh, no! anyway...
pr3viso
I'm certain that those with religious exceptions can pray their children from sickness. Actually, they should leave the hospital and go to the church. That's where the real voodoo happens.
Maverickaura
Good.
DesolateMirror
Measles really is a terrible virus it has SO MANY horrible effects, not least immune amnesia.
STINKPICKEL
See what happens went the germs hear people like RFK jr are in control of health.
nrene100
A bunch of my EMBA cohort got sick after a trip to India. Different diagnoses, but some were positive for measles, so think I had it too., just missed the testing window. Couldn’t walk for nearly 3 months. Absolutely awful, and I was vaccinated. Terrible disease.
Confirmed with a Hohn Hopkins professor the MMR vaccine is meant to be for life, but who knows how covid changed things.
chillin11111
The Covid president is back. Slow down the testing. Can't have measles if you don't test for measles.
Cabreza
If only there was a simple one-time solution to become immune. Such a shame nothing like that exists.
andsy
Unfortunately, since the MMR vaccine is 97% effective against measles, 3% of the vaccinated will also get sick in an outbreak. And there’s no way to know if it’s gonna be your kid getting unlucky. These antivaxxers are not only hurting themselves.
MinimumContributor
“The bulk of the cases occurred in Gaines County, which reportedly has a high rate of exemptions to vaccines -- often granted on religious grounds.”
Onlyhereforthelaughs
If they die, they die.

Best country in the world my ass

It's the only way to be sure.

Can you imagine being so fucking stupid that you trust trump and musk more than you do medical research. Unbelievable

Measles Are Going Around

In the town I grew up in no less. It's full of fucking morons. I'm so glad I'm not there.
woozle
jridley
I think people really do not know how much they REALLY do not want measles. Not only is it miserable and dangerous on its own but it can also reset your immune system, making you vulnerable again to diseases that you were previously immune to, whether by having had them before or by vaccine.
mbiella
When does EU issues travel ban?
klean9
13 of 48 have been hospitalized, almost a third! All were unvaccinated. 13 of the Texas cases are among children younger than 4 years, 29 cases are among children ages 5-17 years and five cases are among adults. The age of one case is unknown. As a retired internist with an MPH I find this to be repugnant! And yet, here we are. We have one grandchild by one daughter who will be properly vaccinated. Our other daughter will not be having children by choice and I can’t disagree with her decision.
taez555
How did the media find out about this? Did Elon forget to cut the agency that tracks outbreaks?
MrSpookywasagoodboy2
Yes they did
YpsilantiRomani
Health care workers probably called them directly
opusupo
Secretary Kennedy will take care of that.
OkButWhyWereTheyFilming
He didn't have to, Trump already cut all the communication from public health agencies.
Sorrontis
give him a minute
taez555
True, I suppose cutting the oversight regarding contracts to his companies was a priority. The 19yo doge-bags can only get so much done in a day.

🥸 at least they're not autistic 🤡
D0rkL0rd6996
I mean, after the fever passes who knows what the damage done will be. Pretty sure that’s how some kids ended up mentally challenged back in the 50’s
MrSpookywasagoodboy2
Nope they're mentally challenged
UnattendedDeviant
Hopefully the kids will be ok. But it would be a shame if those aldults who actually did an anti-vaccine vote didn't get caught up in it. Be careful, Texas, measles and adults far worse than with kids.
darkdragonempress
An “ironic” thing is many won’t because they themselves were vaccinated. They likely never got boosters, but even the initial shot gives decent protection.
hellospacemonkey
Ask Trump what his administration is doing about the measles outbreak in Texas.
TheVampireDante
"What outbreak?" Will be the reply as they all put on their shiteating evil grins.
Nim449
Can't. Orange Hitler permanently banned the Associated Press from the White House and Air Force One. And he'll do it to anyone else who he doesn't like.
Slugsie
I don't believe it. If this were true then both the CDC, and FEMA, and maybe the WHO would be shouting it from the rooftops. (/s obv.)
murderonamonkey
its showing up on a few international news sites: w.barrons.com/news/nearly-50-texans-infected-with-measles-in-growing-outbreak-984602a8">https://www.barrons.com/news/nearly-50-texans-infected-with-measles-in-growing-outbreak-984602a8
CDC reported it. https://www.cdc.gov/measles/data-research/
US withdrew from WHO on Trump's second day of office - those executive orders he loves so much - - so I can't find a report on their site.
Slugsie
Did you miss the /s or something?
michiyl
"The rules were you aren't going to report it!"
PerthAussieMike
If it's not reported, it doesn't exist .....
VibratingNipples
Soon, polio will make a come back. Millions of dead kids
RooGryphon
let them die. or get vaccinated and not
Kotarisu
I cannot think of any manner in which one can say they care about children or fellow humans, and yet permit an avoidable, highly contagious, debilitating and destructive disease to run rampant again.
gubivd8
It’s money and prestige, for the core promoters it’s how they make a living. They’re snake oil salesmen, hewn from the same rock as Alex Jones. The Truth vs Alex Jones lays bare the business plan.
Yuktio
And then anti-vaxers will be like "Didn't this go away once? How did it come back?! This must be LGBTQ's fault!"
gubivd8
The anti-vax movement is built on a pack of lies. Having said that millions of dead kids is an exaggeration. With measles you’ll get ever increasing number of outbreaks, leading to outbreaks of epidemic proportions the like of which haven’t been seen since the 1950s, there’ll be some deaths, mass hospitalisations, and those that recover many will suffer life long disabilities. The same can be said for polio and rubella!
TheCunningLinguists
Worse: millions of iron lungs.
Hexidimentional
The last user of an iron lung recently passed, guess we're bringing them back
TheCunningLinguists
Coming soon from Tesla....
VibratingNipples
You mean profits
TheVampireDante
Nah, that interferes with "god's plan", so the christofascists won't allow it. Dead kids it is.
Yuktio
They'll allow it for their own children, though. Or more likely they'll allow the vaccine for their own kids.
mediumrarechickenstrips
Lost all empathy once I read Texans.
cakeycakes
Same, mostly, I feel bad for the children who me have no choice and those who can't get vaccinated.
IWantToSeeMountainsAgain
Texan here, I also have zero sympathy for them. Well, maybe the kids, but not the adults.
metalrulercid
I'm right there with you. Fuck plague rats
ZoidbergIsGreat
Reminder that some will be vaccinated but immunocompromised and therefore still at risk. There will be collateral damage while the MAGAt death party culls itself unfortunately...
elusivekarma
As a non-native Texas resident, I feel compelled to point out that there are a lot more blue voters here in the cities than most people realize.
It's just that the state government has jerryrigged the districts so bad that we're deeply misrepresented. Not saying that Texas is blue overall by any means, but like 40+% of Texans aren't like the rest.
elusivekarma
*gerrymandered ugh
CoeurFranc
Been in Austin for some time many years ago and felt a strong blue vibe.
elusivekarma
It's not just a vibe. The state government hates Austin for a reason.
preparanoid
Sure, but are you vaccinated?
elusivekarma
Yes. And I've taught students how vaccines work before. Did you think somehow I wouldn't be based on my prior response?
preparanoid
I thought you would be and most nlue and left are. That was my point. I know conservative’s kids and immunocompromised still in a risk vector but we really don’t care about the red adults at this point. They did this.
preparanoid
Blue not nlue. I sometimes wish i could edit my comments since i can’t seem to proofread.
