Last I checked, you gotta mine for minerals and vespene gas. Fake news!

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

Gotta get that production up, son.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Would you say they had rookie production?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

the pylon building is on cooldown. you can spend 4.99 to build a pylon now!

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Fuck, I love Blizzard.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Shit they gave me heart of the swarm for buying wings of liberty a few days ago.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

So is it telling me starcraft is free

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Also a 7 year old game. Blizzard got their money's worth out of the game. Now it's just left overs for the peasants.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

had to scroll way too far for this. It's nice that it's free though, it would be cool if non-maintained games went free after 5-10 years.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah. Unfortunately, most are taken out back, behind the barn, to have their brain blasted out.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Like Blizzard is one to talk ?1

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yeah remember the real money auction house in Diablo 3? Unless you're an indie gane developer or CD projekt red then you have no say.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But Blizzard was the first ones to start this whole Lootbox craze, they just did it correctly while all the other ones didn't

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Number of hours required to beat a korean in starcraft: 7.8x10^18 hours

8 years ago | Likes 72 Dislikes 1

0 - "not possible"

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nah, it will take less time than that to develop the genetic engineering technology to turn YOU into a 12 year old Korean.

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

That's only if the Korean stays at the same skill level. But after a week they'll have got better than someone else playing 7.8×10^18hrs

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Error: North Koreans have no access to internet, results with South Koreans have resulted in infinite failure cycles.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If you can't beat them in the first hour you're screwed.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Starcraft 1 or 2?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Does it matter?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I beat a korean once in Brood War. 3x actually. We went to the same school and he wouldn't talk to me for a week. I am white.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

White Power?!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We played PvZ, I out-zerged him with mass upgraded zealots fast. No time for tech, biatch.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

EA Starcraft- Just $24.99 gets you 500 Vespine Gas!

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Congratulations, you are a perfect tool for Blizzard marketing!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What they dont tell you is that you constantly have to spend resources to build units to destroy your enemy. Its a viscous cycle.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I hope the free game will bring more long term players as the game feels pretty much dead to me.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I hopped back on to it recently after the WoL F2P change, and noticed a ton of new people in the co-op

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

...but they sold all three campaigns separately...

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Each campaign in SC2 is about as long as all three campaigns together in SC1. At least that's how it seemed when I played through recently.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Probably because they were done like 5 years apart...

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Wings of Liberty 2010, Heart of the Swarm 2013, Legacy of the Void 2015. 2-3 years in between each one with D3 and WoW stuff shoved in.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Play SC2? I would be DE-LIGHTED TO, SIR.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

PRO-CEDIN'!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Artanis' lvl 15 ability in coop is "start with 200 supply"

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dehaka and Nova have maxed supply from the start, the Horners get double supply depots and Fenix can get some free supply from his masteries

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

YOU MUST CONSTRUCT ALL OF THE ADDITIONAL PYLONS. ALL OF THEM.

8 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Overwatch has micro transactions to buy loot boxes... fortunately they’re for only cosmetic items.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

And have made Blizzard over one billion dollars. They're still somewhat culpable to the whole games as a service problem.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

The point is that no one HAS to buy them as they provide NOTHING towards game performance.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because no other developers are going to see what a success paying for cosmetics has been and want to get on that gravy train, nah.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

HoTS is the same way, so is Hearthstone but the latter is a collectible card game so it kinda makes sense. you can also grind in all 3 games

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

to get the loot boxes without paying money, just takes time.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah and not some damn 40 hour grind fest

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There's a reasonable level of micro transactions I'm willing to accept so long as the earnings are used reasonably.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

micro transactions are fine as long as they are not pay to win. That's part of the big deal people got against EA. Only way to win BF2 >

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

> is to do nothing but play the game while giving up your job and family, or pay for it.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The last 7 co-op commanders have to be purchased to play though, that i know as i've played co-op for the past year

8 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 1

Is coop something a newcomer to starcraft can or should play? Will I get paired with equally (non) skilled teammates?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Co-op is a fun experience, whether casual or hardcore so don't worry about it. Multiplayer is vastly different from Co-op though. Too grindy

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd be a lot more enticed if they'd bundle the fuckers up once in awhile. Buy all 7 for $20 or somesuch.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

YES!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah they’re kinda just ignoring the leveling mechanic...but hey, I had fun playing. I’m a Blizz fan.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They changed it so you can play any of them till lvl 5, you only need to purchase to hit 6+

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I didn't know as i don't follow blizzcon but that sounds amazing for new players. I don't regret buying them though, keeps the game alive

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

What do the commanders do? And is SCII now free to play or just the expansion?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's free to play, you can buy the expansions. If you already bought the game you get the first expansion for free/.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Every commander has unique units, abilities, upgrades, buildings, etc. So playing each one in co-op is a different experience.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dehaka for example grows to be the size of a building and godzilla stomps around, while Swann has a laser with infinite range.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or there's Nova with super, super strong units that cost a TON versus Stukov, who has units with timed life that are incredibly cheap.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I swear, I'm not a fanboy, but i freaking love blizzard. Been playing nothing but overwatch, Diablo and heroes.

8 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 3

I hate the art style in all of their games personally, and that ruins the experience enough that I just can't play them.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Go grab SC2 while you're at it, it's free right now

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Had it since launch.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not a fanboy but plays nothing but blizzard games :^)

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"I'm not an addict but I fucking love Cap'n Crunch!"

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I recently got into Heroes after swearing off MOBAs after a bad experience with LoL in 2011. I've been loving it.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I honestly can't stand LoL or the other one. But i was drawn to heroes

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Blizzard also confirmed they are going to have original WoW servers. No set timetable as it was stated a lot has to be done to make it >

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

> happen, but it is going to happen. I'm stoked. I started way back less than a year after the game left Beta.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

(And before some wag says something, they have a dedicated separate team working on it.)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My main game is HoTS. Has been since it released from Alpha. Happy to say I own all of the heroes except Alextraza which was released today

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I got her this morning! She’s super fun. Totes gonna buy her Dark Queen skins. Now we just need Deathwing.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I completely agree. Theyve proven they can do dragons in HoTS so now they basically HAVE to do him.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ehhh, overwatch still has the lootbox cancer. I am however still hooked on starcraft and Warcraft

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 14

Except Overwatch loot boxes are purely and entirely cosmetic. No pay-to-win. Which really, there isn't much wrong with that.

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

The lootbox hurts no one. It's purely cosmetic.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

It's the principle of the matter. If I pay for a game I'm expecting for that to be it. Expansions are literally my only exception.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 10

I think post-production work is outside of that, but that is just my view.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

extra content being free and cosmetics being paid for is a good way to not split the community into those who can/cant afford the new stuff

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Nope. Purely cosmetic stuff that is added later and holds no value is something you shouldn't be entitled to. People are free to buy 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

2/2 them or not as it holds no special benefit. Also, you still get loot crates by levelling up and other ways, so yeah.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

The poor finance and marketing team at EA who probably gave a great presentation on how much money this would make them, soon unemployed.

8 years ago | Likes 360 Dislikes 9

Whoever came up with that idea for a Star Wars game deserves it

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

They're still going to make millions, once every one gets over themselves and really want to play as Kylo because they're just as emo.

8 years ago | Likes 82 Dislikes 5

Nah the real edgy kids play Darth maul and as sad as I'm to say boba fett. (I'm a huge mandolorian fan)

2. Industry model; most of the money is made from addicts. Companies that adopted that model thrived and bought out companies that...

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Only if it doesn't make money.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

1. Id like that to be true. Very much. But, gaming industry has changed so much in past 10 years. They have switched to a gambling...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah you think your job sucks. They're walking on coals all day everyday.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They'll point the finger at the community managers for not polishing a turd.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

3. Stuck with old model of better games. Good games survived long enough to get eaten up by Candy Crush companies that grew fat off whales.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You could just replay to each comment instead of making us dance around the reply chain to find your whole comment.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good, they can all burn in gamer hell.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Yes, EA is shaking. Mostly from the weight of all the money.

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 2

It seems to be dipping at the very end tho. Can't be making them too happy

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The axis have no units. X is obviously year, but y is a 0-100 integer. For all we know it could stand for farts per hour in their boardrooms

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Type "electronic arts stock price" into google, you'll get chart. If not happy, you'll have links to other websites to confirm data.

Type "electronic arts stock price" into google, you'll get chart. If not happy, you'll have links to other websites to confirm data.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

No chart for this mobile pleb :(

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/EA?p=EA Maybe this one will open on mobile.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nah, they'll fire the developers for implementing it wrong then give the marketing team a raise.

8 years ago | Likes 254 Dislikes 5

Sooooo much this, it hurts

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This may sound dumb, but why don't the developers quit and find a better company?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Because there is an absurb amount of game devs. Its the kind of softwaredeveloper everybody wants to be so there

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

is never a shortage. There's never really any room for advancement. Further, there's no job security either. Gaming also has the worst 2/3

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

crunchtime out of any facet of the programming industry. Being a game developer sucks. https://kotaku.com/tag/video-game-layoff-stories

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There are a surprising amount of studios that are owned by EA or that they have stake in, so rotating studios to escape isn’t always easy.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tied to location, enjoy the work, no other options, freelance too risky, family to support, any number of reasons.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Imagine that dev interviewing for their next job...

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

"So you were fired by?" "EA" "For?" "Listening to the gamers" "OUT, GIT OUT VERMIN"

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I've worked in software and respectfully disagree. Dev positions are harder to fill while marketing candidates are cheap and plentiful!

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Could you please tell the entire game industry that? In my experience, software =/= game industry. It’s like the Wild West over here!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Eh, with the ea track record of buy/gut, I don't really think that applies here

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Fair enough, I don't know the video game industry very well

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And then disband the studio... again...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is awful and cynical but I agree with you

8 years ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 1

It's EA. Much like Russian history, EA's actions can be described with the phrase: "And then things got worse."

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

EA has entered the Bolshevik revolution of our decade.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

My money is on Bioware going first but yeah, Bioware, DICE, and even Maxis are all on death row right now.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

One of their better-handled series, usually. Certainly not a Real-Money Auction House or a Let's Normalize the Shit Out of Lootboxes-Watch.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

At least Overwatch boxes are cosmetic items only.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

They still RNG BS lootboxes, and they still way worse then a shop you can just buy whatever you want.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

You can still buy whatever you want, of course you just need to buy between 10 and 30 lootboxes to maybe get enough credits.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You don't have to buy loot boxes though, it's entirely possible to get them for free at a not-unreasonable rate.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Except that, for the first year or so, duplicates were a massive part of the loot table. At level 75 you'd start having 2-3 dupes per box.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You could have 11% of the game unlocked and still be drowning in duplicates for characters you never play and would never unlock things for.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I got a four-duplicate box FOUR TIMES before level 150.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is true, but in my belief we were well enough compensated for the dupes, allowing you to buy the items you want eventually.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean, this must be new, I reloaded the game from blizzard and after the tutorial, I clicked campaign and it asked for money. So, idk.

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

They're offering up sc2, the full Wings of Liberty gsm, for free for a few weeks

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It is new. They made Wings of Liberty free as of today.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

If you already owned Wings of Liberty they're giving you Heart of the Swarm for free too.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This is new

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

This is a new thing. Previously you could only get SC2 as a "trial version" now I think they're moving it entirely to free to play.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not the expansions. Just the base game.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh gotcha, my info is only what I've gathered. I bought all the expansions and knew they were moving to fully(?) F2P recently.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Only Wings of Liberty is free. If you owned WoL prior to the change, they gifted Heart of the Swarm to you.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Technically, SC2 was shipped as three separate games. You don't need one to play the others.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

What? I own the game and both expansions, you definitely need to own them to play them, unless you're strictly talking multiplayer

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Huh, could have sworn that they made it so you didn't need WoL to play HotS or LotV. Guess not.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

After searching, I was partly correct. LotV was shipped as a standalone expansion that doesn't require WoL or HotS to play.

Blizz got nice enough to let you buy actual money things with in game WoW gold.

8 years ago | Likes 415 Dislikes 5

Is that the mechanic they use to monetize Chinese prison labour being forced to play the game and sell game gold to western teenagers?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 6

Bizzard has wares if you have coin

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That is actually a tired and true method to combat gold-selling/farming. Other MMOs like EVE Online and Tera have done it to great effect.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

WoW is kinda like the Roman Empire. It didn't create anything new it just took the best ideas and did it better than everyone else.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Activision is starting to drag them down.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

"Starting"

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

True, but wasn’t a pay to win motive they had in mind. It was to combat gold-selling while offering a time vs. money exchange

8 years ago | Likes 151 Dislikes 3

If only the price of the WoW token hadn't shot up so much, I paid for my sub for a full year with just gold. Too much now though.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not only that but it removes currency from the game which should reduce the prices on the market. kind of a win/win

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

Wouldn't removing it from the market increase its value? I am economic yes

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Exactly, it should combat the hyper-inflation WoW is plagued by.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah alright I see, I misunderstood the problem that they were trying to change. Thanks my friendo

considering wow is designed to be a huge timesink, thats still fair.

Also to try to stem the slow death of WoW

Okay imgur, saying a declining playerbase is not only so insulting it better not get left there, its also worth downvoting even if true. jfc

I have no idea what you are saying...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That I have no idea what's so utterly abhorrent about saying there's a declining playerbase, even if its true, that it deserves downvoting.

Honestly though. Legion really helped bring back a lot of players. I doubt they will be in trouble for a long time.

I still miss the D3 auction house. Gold is useless in that game.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

You haven't played in a while have you?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Been a couple months. Did something change? I have $9 billion to spend!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

That was happening either way with people buying gold. This way players aren't going through shady third party sites and such.

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

They used that as a gold sink in an attempt to improve WoW economy. However, it's also extremely beneficial to good players. Pro pro, I say.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Too bad they fucked up the economy in the first place by indirectly selling gold. Granted, it didn't create new gold, just transferred some

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

that already existed in-game. It's kind of screwy how it works. Player A buys a game time token for real money, player B buys the token from

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

player A for gold. Player B can use the token to add game time, or to add X amount of credit to their bnet account (now, it took Blizz

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

almost 3 years to add the second option). The gold price of tokens still hasn't recovered, it more than tripled the day the second option

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Gave me something to use extra gold on

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Would be the end of it of they would charge you for stuff on an outdated game

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Let's talk about the Diablo 3 market situation.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Let's not.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It was bad, game destroying bad. blizz admitted it. Removed it. Diablo 3 is now a very good and popular game. Good talk?

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I agree

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cool, let's talk about the year and a half it was up and the time they thought selling gold on the real money AH would fix it? Better talk?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah no...somewhat true. The price is based on other players buying tokens to buy gold. So essentially you just sell gold and buy sub in 1

8 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 1

Can buy destiny 2 as well

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wow isnt their only game. Overwatch and hots both have that option. Then again, so does Battlfront2...

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

I just spent gold in wow to add to my bnet balance to transfer 3 characters. $90 is what it would have cost. Good guy blizzard.

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

But you can use the blizz balance to buy anything from blizzard, even from their merch store. That equates to something tangible at least!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Oh yeah! For sure! I love blizzard

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Right but someone else gave real money to blizzard for the gold

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

is this like buying PLEX (30 days game time) in Eve online?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You csn spend the Gold to buy game time or to buy other in game blizzard stuff for any of their games.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

neat. so it's essentially the same. i think Eve has been doing that for over a decade. it's nice to see it somewhere else!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, to my knowledge Eve did this concept first and Blizzard borrowed it.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Can't tell if "Good guy blizzard" is genuine or sarcastic.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 5

It was a genuine good guy blizzard scenario. Gold in the game isn't hard to get and them allowing you to use the Gold to buy services or (1

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

2) even things for their other games is great! If i wanted i could have used that $90 I traded gold for to buy hearthsone cards or OW boxes

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I think he means he spent in game gold to transfer the characters instead of paying real money to transfer the characters.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

So it's a good thing then? It costs $90 to transfer characters but you can choose to work it off in the game instead so it's good?
