I was reading about Tycho the other day. That's the prominent crater in the light-coloured field in the middle of the southern hemisphere.

It's about 108 million years old, 85 km across, and 4.7 km deep. That's three times deeper than the grand canyon.
The impact blasted material all the way to earth, and if you distributed it evenly, it would cover the entire surface of the earth about 0.5 mm deep.

No shit! I got to visit the Grand Canyon for the first time ever this year, and it was literally breathtaking (that might have been the altitude), Tycho would fracture my soft little brain. If I could, another +1 for Leeloo.
