This is often posted as the "official" NASA portrait of Leland D. Melvin. I love this, It makes me happy whenever I see it, but you don't have to make shit up. It's one of several shots taken during the shoot, but is not the official portrait. Maybe it's better the the final (I know I prefer it), but it's not the truth.
THIS is Astronaut Leland Melvin's official NASA portrait. There's no need to create a false narrative to make your (re)post sound better.
It may seem pedantic, but this mentality pervades everything here (and other social media sites). Facts no longer matter, only whether our perception and beliefs are reinforced for good or ill. This seemingly minor "adjustment" of the truth—and the collective willingness to accept it—is what I find the most dismaying.
I prefer to see it for what it is: a man and his loving doggos, without pretension or pretense. No artificial "Fun Fact" needed.

But which Ramirez did they use for the picture?

It was in Most Viral just a few hours before I posted this, too. I've seen it at least five times in the last year.

I don't want to spoil enjoyment, but I would like to dampen the credulousness a bit.

I understand, you're right, the truth is more important than fun; however the pic with dogs will be MY official photo of this astronaut!

It certainly is my favorite. :)
