I’ve been at this job for about 3 weeks and I like it a lot. I always have something to do. I’m a loyal person to a fault so when I get a job, I bust my ass. Sometimes I feel they don’t appreciate or care but I always bust my ass regardless. Today my boss pulled me to the side to talk to me. I was pretty nervous because I was expecting bad news.
She starts by telling me how it’s hard for her to find dependable people that she can count on, then she said she was so happy when I got hired. She told me she has recognized my continuous hard work and my eagerness to learn. I’m clean and organized and she needs that in a lead. Since I’m still new, I may have to wait but she said the spot is open and she wants me in it. That really put a big ass smile on my face. I even shed a fucking tear on the way home. Couldn’t be happier.
TLDR: Working hard at new job for 3 weeks and already recognized for a promotion
FP edit: damn. I’ve been lurking for a while so this is pretty cool. I appreciate yall for the kind words and funny jokes. Y’all made my day even better. I love this community

Good for you! My one job I worked with for two years decided to give the promotion to a lady that quit and came back instead of me.
slyvic

My boss is all about taking advantage of me. The company is not. I'm ready to be done.

and on the opposite end of the spectrum, I spent eight years in a shop busing my ass, eager to learn, but the boss kept me on the bottom.

Keep up the good work and don't get "affected" w/ praises or promotion/s. Work as if nothing happened or u haven't heard anything good.

You are an awesome human being, humble and hard working. You have broken the code. The next level awaits.
tuxedobob
It’s okay to make the whole thing red. Unless you think working hard is a bad thing.

That’s excellent you are recognized & rewarded for your hard work! Keep it up
InspiredForestRaptor
Give 80% consistently and keep the other 20% for yourself. You will burnout otherwise.
Sasurau
And if you give 100%+ 24/7, they'll expect that as your base. I'm not sayin' slack, but I'm sayin' hold some in reserve for when needed.

Personal philosophy: go 90-95% the first few weeks to make a good starting impression, then scale back to 80% or so over a couple weeks.

Congrats OP! I’ve been busting my butt for 2 years at my current job and I don’t think my boss has a care in the world.

Congratulations! That’s awesome. With that work ethic you’ll do great. Hey, when you get promoted, get the shake machine repaired. JK

What do you do? If you don’t mind me asking. I’m still looking for a job I like.

Hey no worries. Wasn't trying to be rude. Some people feel like they could be judged. Happy for you on your promotion.
SuicidalBallsack
Thank you, I appreciate that. :)

Careful you aren't being taken advantage of by being given more work for not enough pay.
Yamioni7
This. They may try to argue against a raise since they were hired recently. Don't tolerate that shit.

I just got one of those types of "promotions" myself! Not a single penny more, but now I have 3 official jobs titles instead of 2! Yay?
SuicidalBallsack
Yea, that happens to me but I can’t help it. That’s how my gpa taught me, not to be taken advantage but to work hard, even if the guy next
SuicidalBallsack
To you isn’t and is still getting paid the same or even more than you.

Keep your eyes open. Look at your leads and managers now and take note what they are put through and their responsibilities. Ask for (1/?)
badidepanda
I feel this. My dad also taught me to learn how to do everyone's job around you.
MoveAwayAccordingly
Higher pay than what they offer. If they really want you in that position, you can decide your pay. They will put you to work. Make (2/3)
MoveAwayAccordingly
Sure its worth it, at least! (3/3)
SuicidalBallsack
Thank you, I will

I didn't go to college, worked hard at every job. I've had 3 jobs in 30+ years, worked my way up in all of them. Making very livable wage.
