I pass an entrance on the freeway every morning on my way to work. One day I told someone in passing that it feels like I only ever see two cars come on at that entrance at a time and they're always just in time to get in my way. Ever since then it's either been 1 car or 3 cars now.
Where can I hide?
Yo professuh!
Whyyy?

Jesus Christ that asshole has nothing but dudebro and bully energy, with the joke being that he is loud and makes noises sometimes.

SOC?
ToenailClippingsJar
Security Operations Center.
Basically any larger business organization has one. They involve themselves with enhancing cyber security, among which Phishing campaigns to see how well people take security into consideration. Among other things of course.

#1 there's a heron out here that sometimes stands beside the road. There's no canal with running water or any pooled water. He just likes watching people drive by I guess. Hopefully he doesn't develop a test for human flesh.
Bubble181
Side of the road is amazing for roadkill, and herons happily eat mice and voles and stuff too, so maybe he's just lazy

I never thought about it but you're right. That car is meh at best, and that's especially egregious since there are so many wicked cool looking modded 40s cars

#5 European here. Could anyone with knowledge of Basketball help me out here please? What are squeaks and what does "pumping them in" mean in Basketball?
SakuraSunsets
I believe the “squeaks” refer to the sounds the shoes make when running/stopping on the court, and “feeding them in” means editing them in (as in the squeaks are not actually happening as often as they make it seem on tv).
Gerokeymaster
The sound of their shoes "squeaking" on the court floor. And "pumping them in" as in adding extra fake squeaking sounds to the tv version of the game to...honestly, no idea why this guy would think this, lol
ardinmcallister
Its like adding in the cheering. We all "kinda" thought it was happening, but nowadays its VERY clear that its happening to TV sports. Why? I have no fucking idea, but every sport seems to do it. Even Battlebots!
byronwilliams4010
#5 If you want a creepy conspiracy in the same vein as your highway example, read the short story 'The Crowd' by Ray Bradbury.

Truck that ends up moving over a lane was a safe distance behind another truck in the passing lane (appearing to go front trucks speed). Thus, not being the reason passing lane was going "slow".
vicvalour
Yeah, 2nd watch, was the truck in front of the 'hero' car that wouldn't complete the pass and get over
Ionico
Left-Lane-Lucy truck drivers are incredibly prevalent now. Yes always been a few, but it's every day on my commute now. I've seen this car's move dozens of times. I blame the hundreds of CDL sham schools, and no it's not a "race" thing, it's because trucking has moved from a respectable profession to...just a 'job', thanks to corporations greed. Lack of in depth training, mentorship, and respect for ones own reputation has allowed a large influx of unsafe, risk-taking driving.
boevis
Most of these people are coward veterans, not fake school grads. They're just scared of changing lanes, speeding, following too closely, going over 45 mph when there's workers present (regardless of posted limits), etc. and being vets they do not give a shit about civilian commuters.
ScreamimgGoat
Was it just to make the semi move over?
middlenameconfusion
yes.
garbuhj
It was to make the truck stop driving in the passing lane when going at the same speed as the right lane vehicles. I'm sure the truck was blocking the passing lane for a long time
ForlornFennec
Specifically to make the semi move over so both of those fuckers weren't just blockading the whole road from passing.

#29 I’m so old that I remember my brother pulling the knob off of our tv so our sister couldn’t change the channel. She then grabbed a pair of pliers and changed the channel anyway.
mcglirkymeow
And I'm so old that I used to wait until it was close to time for Hockey Night in Canada and then I would just go and change the position of the rabbit ears and pull the tin foil off. My dad went from zero to a million in 5 seconds flat.
Elkarlo1977
I was the youngest kid. Simple Trick: Choose your channel and turn the Batteries around in the Remote.
torisenblack
Im so old that when I was little (4th grade), we had a TV with a remote that looked like an overfat box of cigarettes with buttons that clicked and used some sort of pre-IR ultrasonic I was so proud one day when I figured out how to change the channel with my dad's harmonica. I think I found the notes for channel up/down and volume up.
kc2syk
We had one of those TVs! Zenith "Space Command". It had 4 buttons and took no battery. I found that a way to get it to change volume and channel was to jingle my house keys on the key ring!
torisenblack
Yup! Pretty sure ours was a Zenith!
I wonder if different types of metal in different keys would do different things? (Volume, etc?)
kc2syk
Probably. The crazy thing is that it all ran on vacuum tubes ("valves" in the UK). Wild stuff.
Pokegeologist
Mom gave us her old dorm TV from the 70s so we could hook up our Sega Genesis. Old enough it had two knobs, one for the regular stations 3-15, and then a 0/U to set for UHF so you could get 20-60. We had to screw in a coax adapter to the antenna prongs in the back for the game console. One day the knob just cracked and fell off, so I stole the one off the egg timer on her exercise bike and it fit perfectly.

Necessity is the mother of invention
IMakeLotsOfReferencesAndRemakes
See at one point my family FELT well off cause each kid had a TV in their own room so this was less of an issue. But I am reminded of one time my mom actually took my side when she told my sister to get me for dinner and I was mid game and, full of confidence, my sister turned the game off. Friends IIRC I was facing Mizar on Jet Force Gemini and if you know you know. I started yelling she ran to my mom crying but I told my mom and she was like "DID I TELL YOU TO DO THAT?! THAT IS NOT YOUR JOB!"
SandpaperCock
I don't remember mizar being that bad, I had more trouble with the mechantis twins.

I'm so glad that NOW they know I can't just drop what I'm doing. Granted it took twenty years and they still sometimes forget that no, this always online game that I'm playing cannot be paused and I'm midpull trying to help someone new get through Stormblood as the tank. =.=;
