My wife has a Belgian malinois. Two actually, one being fairly new to the house, having only been with us 4 months now.
We went out for our walk the other night, and she took the newer dog with us. When we came home, the other dog, she had had for years, rushed up to say hi. The newer dog, fenrir, definitely does some resource guarding of mama. The older dog, arson, was just excited to see mom.
Fenrir went after Arson, and the two begin to tussle a bit. Not bad enough that either drew blood, but we did have to separate them. This went fine.
But then, as we are working to separate them, Arson broke free and went after Fenrir. More serious this time. She suffered a good bite on her hand, and I got bit twice pretty good on mine. As you can see. The one in the middle of the palm is excruciating, being quite deep. The one on the ball of the thumb meat only hurts when I move my thumb. Which of course, is all the time.
She has one good deep puncture off to the side of her palm.
So there you go. You've heard my story. You've seen the picture. I have no particular reason, cause, or purpose in putting this up other than it seemed like the thing to do at the moment.

I have a pitbull / rott male (Anubis) and later added an AST / Pitbull female (Uno). Both are rescues and both have food aggression. Anubis would go behind the couch with treats while Uno would go to her pad. One day as I gave them treats Uno took hers behind the couch, and then Anubis took his behind the couch. As fast as I realized, they realized faster. Uno, the smaller one, put a hole in my hand separating them, but not before giving Anubis a hole that needed 5 staples in his chest

Been there done that. Reactive pit mix. Tried to make him do something he didn't want to while pet sitting, i.e. went to grab his collar to get him off the couch and go potty.
Felt like an idiot. I knew the dog was reactive. I knew he moped when his comfort people were gone. I've been around big dogs all my life, first time any one of them broke skin. He bit me once and let go. Punctures suck and it bruised like an SOB.

We rescued a puppy that turned out to be a Malinois. We had similar experiences and it had to go.

My method for breaking up dog fights is grab the back feet of a dog, and back it up, second person, if available can grab the back feet of the other dog and back up the other way. If you have a leash, you can loop it around their back end , and if you can get to something to hook it to, secure the dog that way. I've done it with newfs, but they generally stop fighting pretty quickly. Your mileage may vary.

Reasonably accurate. These are not dogs for people that are not ready for a intense, high energy high drive working canine. They are not for novices. Fortunately, we are not novices. In spite of my mistake, we have considerable experience with these dogs. Arson is a trained HRD SAR/R K9. Fenrir will be used for firearm detection. They get lots of training, lots of exercise, and can be amazingly loving, kind, and loyal.

You need to see a doctor about those sooner rather than later.
Deep bites like that get badly infected very often, and those infections move 𝘧𝘢𝘴𝘵. Septicemia is absolutely not something to fuck around with.
The last time I got bit by an animal, it got infected enough to royally fuck me up in maybe two days, and that was with immediate treatment. I very nearly died twice.

Fortunately, we are canine trainers. We're both up to date on our shots, including tetanus. We flush the wounds with sterile water and saline, which hurt like hell. They're not bad enough for stitches.

I was bitten by a well-cared-for housecat. I was at the hospital about an hour after the bite, and had the wound treated maybe an hour later.
I still got a life-threating infection in my bloodstream.
I'm not saying that it absolutely will happen to you, but if you start to notice symptoms of infection, do not think "maybe I'll see a doctor tomorrow".

Cat bites are way more prone to quick onset infections.

oh yes, of course. However, as professional canine trainers, I've had hundreds of bikes if not more. Which is why we have first aid kits in all vehicles and on field at all times. And yes, we watch carefully for infections, and other such issues. Unfortunately that can be a significant problem.
