I've told my wife that if she invites Jessica Fletcher to another dinner party all divorce her.

I was dating someone with a 13 year old daughter. Some guy with a car was picking her up from school. I found where he lived, confronted the boy's father.

Sounds a bit extreme. It worked, obviously, but there must have been a simpler way.

Imagine Angela Landsbury going full "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" on the Manson Family

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I can imagine her using her typewriter to smash a head.

Murder, she committed

Now there's an "I told you so" to end all arguments.

IIRC she also rehabbed one of her sons by hiring him as her assistant and just keeping an eye on him for years on end.

Bro this poor mom

1 year ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 1

Better someone apparently excellent at parenting than some deadbeat mom who'd have two dead kids.

See also: Dennis Wilson of The Beach Boys.

I own a copy of the album they recorded. It's honestly not awful. Bit weird of course, but better than some I've heard from the era.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Everyone curls their nose up like it isn't equally as awful as most hippie rock from the time. I know old timers who listen to worse.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Isn't it wonderful she could take such drastic measures to ensure the safety of her family. Too bad everyone can't do that but I guess the rest is just not good enough to deserve saving

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

wasn't till I read "Mindhunter" that I found out he technically didn't murder anyone (that we know of.)

1 year ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Yep, it's why his conviction was so complicated. He wasn't by the law guilty of any crimes of note. But he was very much guilty of every crime. He was very smart and way too good at manipulating people.

1 year ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

What was complicated about it. Someone rich got killed, they wanted to put him in prison, so they came up with some convoluted rational to explain it. Same as it ever was

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was complicated because he was smart about not incriminating himself. To most killers, it's more simple to charge them will the killings. His case was closer to how you go after a Mob boss than a serial killer.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I like the theory it was all about covering up for another crime.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Well, the important thing is they did get him in the end.

Murder, she predicted.

She starred in a series called "Murder, she wrote."

Holy shit, good on her, and good on you with the proof.

1 year ago | Likes 143 Dislikes 0

Good that the daughter wasn't like "No he loves me and I want to stay."

1 year ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

The daughter may not have had a lot to say about it. It was definitely a time when women didn't have many options for themselves. I mean, they couldn't even open a bank account in the US at that time.

1 year ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Women absolutely opened bank accounts in the 60's. It was legal, up to a point, for banks to discriminate on the basis of gender until the 1974 Equal Credit Opportunity Act. But a woman in the 60's who needed a checking account could just go open one.

That's not him, is it?

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

No, it's probably one of her 2 sons

1 year ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Tony Iommi.

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

NO. That's her son. The story is true though, and well documented. But that's a picture of Angela with her son and her daughter.

That their mother said Ireland was a rock covered in grass and nothing else.

They began a couple hundred years ago...

Although you could assert that the foundations to the eventual situation were laid 700 years ago when Scotland under Robert the Bruce invaded Ireland and attempted to make his brother king. It was aimed as a strategic move against England and caused the first ever deployment of English forces to Ireland. They never left after that, the size of the presence has fluctuated but Scotland making Ireland a new theatre in the wars with England is what started it.

The troubles never really affected County Cork.
