I’m pretty sure a Harley dealership has seen loud garbage before

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The only thing is that if it breaks down you aren't allowed to fix it.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

“It runs so smooth, it’s so comfortable”

That’s because you ride a Harley. A Harley is a poorly maintained vibrator for LARPers.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

The belt makes me slightly nervous, but it's a really cool idea

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I don’t know John Deere stuff or motorbike stuff. Is this a bike that is made out of a mix of a Harley and a tractor?

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is pro stuff. I have seen diesel bikes before, but this is quite unique, and diesel bikes usually don't have much torque. I don't understand how they got more torque than the original engine.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lovely combination of two crap companies. It's like a turd wrapped salmonella - and an idiot dressed in a flag.

2 months ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 4

That "idiot" knows more about wrenching on a scoot than everybody watching this video put together.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Ok bro.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

it sounds like he said they went 37 miles and topped it off and it took 2.3 gallons, that is 16 mpg, if that is accurate to the trip they took. that style tank only hold 3.3 gallons, im unsure where his getting these numbers.

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

There is no way that thing does 140 mpg. Diesel or not.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think he said "Point 2 3" But there was an edit that cut the first part out.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

possibly, i didnt watch the whole youtube episode or anything, but trying to accurately calculate fuel economy on amounts of less than a quarter gallon using some random fuel dispenser seems like a problem as well.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It does sound like a Massey. That is not a compliment.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Call me weird, I guess, cause I also like keeping my brain inside my skull.

2 months ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 0

I thought he said that because there's a helmet on the bike, but he doesn't want to wear someone else's?

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Superb build there! Is overall guy MAGA?

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Anyone else concerned about the exposed belts right beside legs and trousers

2 months ago | Likes 122 Dislikes 8

First thing a seent. Someone is gonna ride that thing in shorts if you let them.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you've ridden before, you learn pretty quick that we just don't touch it. At all

2 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

I'm totally NOT a bike guy, but I'm sure I've seen large old classic bikes with exposed belt drives.

2 months ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 1

Yep.

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It's a bike, the concern for safety is not exactly high.

2 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

We're rocketing thru traffic straddling a motor on wheels...safety was never the point

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Naaah, that’s safe as hell.

2 months ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

Safe as hell is some marketing phrasing. :claps:

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Hahaha, extra funny bc of the context of tractors, esp old ones (belt drives to power implements was the norm before PTOs):

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

That's what chaps are for

2 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Ok, so we're talking about a two-wheeled contraption capable of freeway speeds, devoid of ANY protective or safety capabilities whatsoever, with traffic around you that 90% of was trained by their half-blind grandma to get their license, and you worry about the belts?

2 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 12

Could someone ELI5 this for me, please? What am I looking at?

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A rare diesel engine motorcycle

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A bike

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Could pass as a Turtles bike as well.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

140 MPG...OPEC would like a word

2 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

It's a diesel engine, they get ridiculous mileage, and bikes also get ridiculous mileage, as they have very little weight to them. So combined it's not surprising. But they are loud, so are regular bikes. They don't run well in cold weather, like regular bikes. And they smell bad, like regular bikers. So really I am surprised no one thought to do it before.

2 months ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

Just keep it running if it's cold. It can't gel up if it's always running.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Considering the whole John Deere motif, for the full experience, it should require you to sign up for a subscription service to start and absolutely brick itself if you try to do any maintenance yourself.

2 months ago | Likes 95 Dislikes 2

Brakes slam on in the middle of the highway, launching you straight off the bike. It's the John Deere way.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But it's an OLD John Deere, so it's actually decent

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

You must mean MEDIUM-old John Deere, then, because actual old John Deere was shit, too.

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

"Back in the mid-70s, there was two week period, where John Deere was good." ;)

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

People make same excuses for chevy dodge ferd chrysler etc.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

maaaaaaaaan are these subtitles annoying

2 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

Cool enough, but that plinky-loud cover on the exhaust would drive me fucking nuts looking for something loose every other ride.

2 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

what are those things even for?

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I am sure they serve a purpose on tractors like keeping rain out or limiting emissions or some other wierd thing, but on that bike, it just seems like overkill. I get why, but still. (Google minutes later...)

Yeah basically acts as an exhaust protector from rain and other corossive elements and general debris.

For those curious the guy with the bike is Bikes and Beards on YouTube. He's got a history of riding, buying and trying weird motorcycles, everything from Amazon box specials to vintage Harley Davidsons with left foot clutch and left hand spark advance. He's pretty entertaining if you're okay with his per video Bible verse recitals. His old mechanic, Craig, set up a channel of his own and is very entertaining @The_bearded_mechanic on YT

2 months ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

I personally don't care about his religion in so far as he doesn't try to make it anyone else's. SmarterEveryDay is good about this too.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Putting Bible verses in your job religious content is literally making it everyone else's.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Then it's not working...?

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think Destin handles it more tactfully, he at least tries to spin it into a sort of homily, where he's actually attempting to relate it to the content, or at least discuss why it's important to his personal worldview. BeardsAndBikes usually goes "and this reminds me of one of my favorite Bible verses" and then just reads off the text like it was a sponsor spot. There's no nuance, it's almost never related to the content, and he doesn't relate it to his life, so it just comes off as preaching.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The bible shit is literally why I stopped watching him. Craig's pretty good though.

2 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I clocked out at the bible verse. Nothing wrong with him doing it, but it's just not for me. What's Craig's channel url?

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

ah, I get it now. TY!

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

1gallon on 130miles i doubt it... at Highway speed total bs if not they sit on an billion Dollar Engine what i dont belive

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thats just a small diesel engine no way its that efficient total bs claims, nice work really well done but the claims cant be true

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Does anyone actually make a diesel bike? It seems backwards - you don't need a ton of power

2 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

There are some

2 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Royal Enfield Taurus

2 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

There was a KLR based one for the military since they all use diesel anyways, makes supply easier.

Diesels are generally heavier which sucks for a lot of bikes.

2 months ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

I was an Army fueler for 8 years and signed up figuring that large vehicles used diesel.
Sure, but diesel vehicles usually run on jet fuel, the only fuel I handled in the military.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

True they use jet fuel, but it's close to diesel like kerosene is. Diesel engines will run with all 3(and more), but run better on diesel. I was trying to keep it simple because the KLR based motorcycles are compression ignition unlike most motorcycles.

Emissions equipment and some modern diesels can't take kerosene or jet fuel though.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That is awsome.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Twenty horsepower Deere

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I'd love to own that bike

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

If you buy it, would you please consider becoming TexasComputerGuy?

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

“Let me get a helmet cuz I’m weird like that.”

My dude, helmets are normal and you should wear them! Thats SOP not out of the ordinary, except maybe in dumb states like Idaho!

2 months ago | Likes 355 Dislikes 7

A helmet is weird when you are just taking a tractor for a ride.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"I'm weird," like not wanting my brains splattered all over the pavement is a weird thing.

2 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

He was joking.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Theres not helmet law in Colorado if you're over 18. Its so dumb.

2 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

I ride with a helmet and ear plugs. Gotta protect all the senses.

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Atgatt. Especially ear plugs

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Florida is legal to go without a helmet if you have insurance.

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

So, how do you get a plate, without insurance?

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I should have been more thorough. Full coverage. You can get PiP/Liability insurance and still ride, but you would need a helmet. Full coverage allows you to ride without.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's optional for adults in Arkansas. It's also optional to be an organ donor, you know

2 months ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 0

Optional in Iowa, too, and I am listed as an organ donor

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

There was a helmet on the back, I think he meant he didn't want to share.

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

That’s what I thought.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This is probably more about "No, of course I'm not saying your darling bike is unsafe" and not "I think this is weird and needs to be excused."

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You have to say it like that. It doesn't sound manly otherwise. He's absolutely protecting his ego.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think it's very likely this was more along the lines of "No, of course I'm not saying your precious machine is unsafe" for when the person coming in to deal doesn't like helmets.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

It's probably the dealers way of fending off getting a drift of shit from the "I'm too macho for a helmet, and you're a p***y" crowd.

2 months ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Ben Roethlisberger disagrees. Or he doesn't. He can't really remember.

Absolutely love the bike tho. Work of art and engineering

2 months ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 1

Last I checked, 27 states didnt require helmets...

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah I feel bad he felt the need to qualify that as if embarrassed.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

ATGATT is SOP, I am weird like that. I like my skin.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No helmets required in CT either, still dumb but surprisingly not uncommon.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There was a helmet on the bike. I just thought he wanted to get his own and not share one.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bruce Rossmeyer owns the largest Harley dealership in central FL (maybe FL) and was VERY anti-helmet when FL decided to make helmets required in the state.

Guess who died on a motorcycle coz he wasn't wearing a fucking helmet?

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you've never been to a Harley dealer, what he was really saying is that his fragile ego has to make excuses for going against the HD status quo so he can wear a helmet but still hope the other HD owners don't label him a pinko commie liberal cuck. Ive been forever shunned by the other HD riders at my job because I went out with them one weekend and quit about 2 hours in. My mistake was telling them the truth that I left because they all rode like cunts. They're a petty bunch.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Harley riders are the pettiest, biggest babies on bikes. I refuse to ride with any of them, except for I’ll ride with my dad

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I’d guess he’d seen too many meat crayons

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've seen couples riding down the number 4 in Florida, helmetless. Insanity.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Side note: IMHO one of the problems with Harley was you always had to "have the look". The owner's were gatekeepers of fandom and the company encouraged it. That plus inability to update reliability at the same rate as their competitors and you get the shell of a company it is today.

2 months ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 3

H-D is a clothing company that dabbles in motorcycles.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What the heck are you talking about? 95% of the Harleys ever made are still on the road!

The other 5% made it back to the garage.

2 months ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 4

When did the t-shirt company start making motorcycles?

2 months ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 3

How to confuse the hell out of a Harley dealership: “hello, I would like a motorcycle that is built well instead of engineered to be a noisy obnoxious piece of shit for branding reasons.”

One of the things that identified John Kerry as being fake as hell was when he traded his Ducati for a Harley

2 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 6

Harley's come from the factory with baffles. They're only obnoxiously loud when you take those off.
Every loud Harley is the result of someone doing that.

2 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 8

They literally have a patent on the 45 degree angle between the cylinders, which causes uneven firing and a choppy ride. There’s even a trademark on the sound.

Their brand is literally designed to sound and ride like shit compared to other machines.

2 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 5

I'm not disagreeing with any of that, baffles however are a thing. I hope downvoting me brightened your day

2 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 10

Nothing to do with brightening a day, it’s SOP for misinformation.

2 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 5

Thank you for saying this
