Poor, about 5% chance of immediate drowning from cold shock, something like 20% chance that he manages to get back in the kayak and start paddling to shore, if not, incapacitation within 5-15 minutes and death shortly after. Even if he manages to get back in the kayak it might not save him since hypothermia could still set in before reaching the shore. When kayaking you have to dress for the water temps, not the air. I wouldn't go out on water that cold without at least a wet suit and skirt.

Hypothermia can be a deadly surprise. I survived my encounter because I was lucky to be close enough to a shoreline but when I got there I could not get up; I had to log-roll out of the water and lie there on the rocks long enough for the Sun to warm me, like a lizard.

Bad. Hypothermia is no joke and water is 20 times more conductive to heat than air. Even if the immediate shock doesn't make the situation worse, at near-freezing temperatures you're talking 2 minutes to symptoms, less than 15 minutes of submersion to unconsciousness and *at most* 45 minutes to death.
