Pro tip: LLMs are not the same as broad neural network models, and hallucinations are solely a thing of LLMs. Reinforcement based learning models have excellent learning rates and apply to basically every form of science that uses data aggregation. There cannot be an ethically sourced AI. The amount of publicly domain data is not big enough to train it. Additionally since your local model is going stale faster with each day you need new ones, so the training WILL impact the environment since you aren't able in any capacity to train your own without skewing it absolutely. In this particular video I understood everything just from listening but it's not always the case so I always support subtitles. The subtitles are wrong because she isn't saying "aha" at all, she's saying "uh huh" which is a colloquial affirmative response compared to "aha" which is more of an "oh, I get it now" type of expression. While technically both could work for a conversation like this (like the 2nd person isn't aware of the flaws of AI the 1st person is listing off) the context and tone makes it apparent she's just flippantly acknowledging the points.

Voice recognition/transcription does not require generative Ai... it's shitty all on it's own. Partly because of bullshit like the McGurk effect. Our brains literally auto-correct other people's speech before we "hear" it. The machines cannot, so you get shit like this.

It uses “AI” or machine learning, but it’s not necessarily generative AI. While transcription has been getting better it’s been around since the 90s. The models are much smaller and can run on your phone.

My work uses Cursor and it's now my boss' default thing. Every time I mention I'm going to look into something, he says to also ask Cursor. "Take your AI little brother with you." So I'm using it to diagnose a weird slowdown I keep getting and I'm actually kind of impressed with how it's doing. Several days later, after optimizing everything on my PC, I realized my laptop's vents had simply gotten blocked. Problem solved. It's hilarious because the AI was so confident in all of its solutions.
