Really giving "Join the British Army" vibes, this song.

"When I was young I had a twist, for punching babies with me fists. Was then I thought that I'd enlist, and join the British Army..."

Jesus Christ, I miss great protest songs. Since they started buying up all the radio stations in the early 2000s these songs have disappeared from popular culture!!!

And, props to Steven for going out swinging! Every week he drops another gem.

He’s really talented and the music he makes is really well done. It’s also hard to listen to because it’s so dang depressing to hear.

He is a great voice for our times

He's like new age John Mellencamp (that's a complimentary statement btw).

People got really mad at Jesse for what one of his songs said about that guy who died a while ago. We gotta remember to keep the unified front, if this guy isn't on our side, who is?

Woody would be so proud

can we join to just get the sign on bonus?

As a musician, I think that this guy is an amazing, AMAZING talent. It's effortless. And that's not even taking into account his incredible abilities as a lyricist. And that's still not accounting for the importance of those lyrics. Good stuff maynard

If he worked on playing music as much as those guns we might be able to remember this song

It's so cool to see Jesse Wells growing in popularity. He really hit people's radar with his United Health song.

I wonder if there were satiric bards like this before the nazi's had their earlier go?

9 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yes, they were eliminated early.

Real rednecks fight the law.

You know it's getting tough out there when folk music gets good again.

This goes even further back to co.pany stores

Search up his song about United Healthcare. It's actually better, in my opinion, but both are great.

The sad part is that it's too subtle.
There will Absolutely be people who think this is completely straight faced, and in favor of ICE, and their actions..

I mean this really IS the problem, you're right/ We've made stupidity a right. And it shouldn't be, we all should be encouraged constantly to read, learn, and better the world. Willful ignorance is the worst.

Up there with keep on rocking in the free world and born in the USA, the satire is lost on most people

9 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

There were people who were surprised Homelander was a villain and that Super Earth is evil.

9 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

A brick with "You suck" is too subtle for some people.

At some point, you have to cut your losses.

"People must love me. They throw free stuff my way all the time. I got a tomato last week. And just a couple days ago someone gave me a brick with a personal note written on it! So thoughtful!"

So you are saying there is a chance?

As tone deaf and corrupt as the current administration is, they'll probably steal the song to use for their own advertising, completely failing to grasp the actual meaning, just as they have with every other woefully misunderstood "pro-America" song they've stolen and used.

I mean, there are cops that think wear Punisher vests, and they clearly don't see the irony there, lol

9 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They think “This Land is Your Land” is an anti-immigration hymn - there isn’t much going on up there.

Jesse kind of lost me with his song about "Charlie". What happened to "the ingredients you got bake the cake you get"?

9 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Some gun deaths are necessary and dying of gun violence? You know the shit he spewed

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yeah so why did he make such a somber song about his death, with the lyrics "Charlie shouldn't have died"

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Je literally says "Charlie shouldn't have died" in the song. That said, the ingredients in Charlie's cake were pro-gun rhetoric and hate, so, I think we've seen what kind of cake that makes.

9 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Exactly my point

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Did you ever find your way back?

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not yet? I feel Jesse had a double standard with the line "Charlie shouldn't have died" tbh

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

While I get where you're coming from and I agree with you, there are plenty of folks out there (and I'd assume, from that song anyway, that Jesse is one of them) that think all life/human life is precious and that no one deserves to be murdered. I can't really fault him for that.

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Which, going back to my first comment, to me doesn't gel with his line "the ingredients you got bake the cake you get" from his song United Health. Indicentally the song which got me into him in the first place.
