Yeah, unfortunately now screens are bigger, phones break far less frequently, and they don't need to flip and contort for button access because it's all accessible while looking at the screen. It really sucks.

The ramp you are suggesting would be nearly a 30 degree angle. I don't know if you are aware but if a 10 degree angle is much harder than flat. Most of the time the ramp angle needs to be < 5 degrees which would either hit the wall or completely block the walkway for pretty much any other traffic. There are some designs that would work but would take a lot more materials to make. The effort put into this was reasonable given the constraints.

All that exposed machinery means it will likely be down for maintenance a lot. A ramp may not be perfect, but it rarely fails.

This is indeed a case of having to preserve the original structure. From what I gathered from the subtitles at least. It seems to be in Portugal, where getting permits for building or even putting outside structures is notoriously convoluted. Lots of regulations and requirements for changes to even be considered.

Sometimes it's because a ramp must have a specific maximum incline, and there isn't room for one to fit into the architecture while also obeying the laws or ordinances about how much of the public sidewalk you're allowed to occupy.

The platform is only briefly exposed while in use, and is likely to see less traffic on those days. Even while exposed, only the hinges are at risk. A moving walkway has dozens of segments, each with their own hinge, driven by belts and wheels that each have their own bearings, all with seams that can admit water into the workings even if you stop running it while nobody's on it.

Multiple people have made the claim that they all have lights and none were flashing, this is truly terrifying. Imagine what happens on the road when you don't have several minutes to review the footage, how many things are you completely unaware of? How many zones did you not even notice were without a light, and sped through thinking "I need to see a flashing light to slow down?" and how many flashing lights did you just not even see flashing? This is why I'm afraid to drive.

Not sure how true but I've read comments that when people are threatened with fines for overgrown yards some people wait for them to go unpaid and then pay them. This then allows them to put a lien on the property and go to court to force a sale. That is why they are so pissed off when someone mows the lawn.

There's nothing wrong with the enjoyment of watching someone mow a lawn, it can be quite satisfying. But these people are absolutely doing it not out of the kindness of their hearts or they wouldn't be making youtube videos about it. They are advertising their business and getting paid to do so. The super clickbaity titles really don't help their case. You've likely never heard of the people who are doing it out of kindness, because they don't use it as advertisement or make money off of it.

Yup, it's still a good deed, the payment for the job is just shifted to viewers, either through being patreons or watching ads and having companies pay (when the service hosting the videos isn't wildly demonitizing and stealing 100% of the profit that is).
But most importantly I think it's about spreading a good deed mindset and inspiring people to help, and also perhaps making people think about why some people don't have enough resources to care for themselves while others do.

Another common one is the company gas card - these are often company vehicles, and many times companies give the driver a gas card to fill up on the company. This way it's always with the vehicle and also not visible (visible stuff encourages break-ins)

"Traps" - well, you got me to do one singular google search and I figured out what it's for. To hide small valuables that aren't a phone (hence the no-phone sign). Like say if you wanted to keep cash there, it wouldn't be accessible or visible while the door is closed, and most people wouldn't even know to look there.

if it's a 'pocket' anyway, it could be anywhere on the door, small stuff wouldn't be visible even when peeking in from the other side. However, it is quite exposed when the door is open, compared to the regular door pockets which might hold other, less valuable items to distract/confuse sticky fingers.
