What do Austin, D/FW, Lubbock, Houston, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and misty other Texas cities with a population over 250k have in common?
(D) by their mayor's/city manager's name on the ballot.
The state is largely gerrymandered federally. But locally it is a sea of Blue city planners, managers, mayors, and city councils. If the state legislature could ever be wrested from the Paxton family's (and other legacy political families) hands, it would be a solid Purple state.

Talarico is a single vote. You'd need to destroy the Texas AG's hold on the election commission, then dismantle the Repug loaded and corrupt state justices. Then, finally, dismantle the gerrymandering. And even after all that, there's a good chance it all goes right back because the Democrats have a history of using Blue Dogs even when they do win.
