Take a Stab at Something New

So this is the finished product for a Christmas gift. And I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

I've never used a sewing machine in my life and these are the 2 test pieces I used to figure out how the thing worked. I found an old Singer 774 for $30 at a second hand shop and honestly it's working pretty good all said and done.

I got some tearaway backing material so that the stitch wouldn't be as crappy. I also tried the whole tracing and stitching along the line and kind of dialed in the settings.

Cut all the pieces out with fleece and assembled.

Some of the stitching's a little janky as the machine ran away on me not sure how you can get it to turn as quickly as you need on stretchy material but I'm sure it's just a learning curve.

I only had to tear out the stitching twice so I'm going to take that as a win.

After stuffing it, I'd say the results were pretty good For a first attempt. Next is calcifer!

They have a bunch a free patterns that are really approachable to beginners and I definitely recommend it. Could even do it by hand!
