I started watching this on Peacock, and the first episode hinged on all the different hoops you used to have to jump through to make a long-distance call. Columbo is very much of its time.
Would be weird if it wasn't. But they explain enough of everything going on that you don't really need to the context of the time or all of the other specialty subjects involved in the murders, like subliminal marketing, to understand it. So can still be enjoyed if the theme and style fits your interests. I certainly prefer crime/murder/spy mysteries pre-cell phones, they cut so much potential and suspense out stories (without them reaching for no charge/reception)
I'm not one of those people who tries to get my kids to be interested in the same things I was or am and generally they aren't, but a while ago when my daughter was about fifteen I started watching Columbo and she happened to be in the room and on her own found it interesting and started watching it too. Now we have a bunch of "a... excuse me sir... just one more thing..." jokes.
I think some years back, Whil Wheaton celebrated his ...I wanna say 44th birthday, by noting that THAT was the age when Patrick Stewart started his run on Star Trek The Next Generation. And he felt THAT was old back then.
Well... you could survive to a hundred and five if you stay young at heart... or something like that... not sure if that's actual medical fact or not though. Probably not. Maybe. But probably not.

Columbo was a pretty good show... I used to try and miss the very beginning so I didn't know "who dunnit".
