We have an otterr that shows up around this time in a similar pond behind our apartment. He hangs around for a few weeks, and then he's out until next year. Always exciting to see him show up.

It’s a muskrat. You can tell by the tail when it dives. We have one in our pond sometimes and same as you we originally thought it was an otter. So disappointing, I know.

Go away Elon, stop trying to steal my water for your ratacenter.

we have otters too... they show up here pretty frequently. we have beavers too; hardly ever see them but they obviously skulk around in the dark stealing trees

Nice. Odd question...is there a golf course across the street? I think I used to live there

Nah, it's someone's backyard. They look as a tree trimmer service. It's weird, they set up christmas decorations and it looks like it could be seen from space sometimes.

All of my money is going towards moving. ;;w;; or I would. If I had known they were there, I'd of turned that lake into a paradise or toys and snacks.

+1 for your excitement, and a giggle to the fact you just found out they're pond rats 😂

I looked up what they look like, they're still cute though.

Nice. They will come and go, and move between water bodies so don't be sad if you don't see them for a while but they will be back from time to time.

I've had otters in the lagoon behind my house. One of them would lay on his back and toss a rock from one paw to the other, just having the best time in the world.

Let me tell you, it takes a lot of willpower to not try and pet them. They are just too cute.

WHAT!? Otters in lakes in this economy?! Oh, you gotta David Attenburough this opportunity! Steal a camera with a nice lens and go to town! Post imiages here. Get some internet points. We get our jollys ... Profit! Lol, that is pretty cool though!

Sorry, muskrat in pond is the best we can do in this economy.

Lol, Always liked the word muskrat. Joining musk and rat just give them a sort of more royal description. Me thinks anyways! Stay fresh cheese bag!

;;w;; they're so pretty. I wanna cuddle one. But I don't wanna disrupt their environment. So I just took that video from a far. They look so happy.

You're a good person resisting that temptation & respecting the otters happytimes!

Still cute thoughh

I was gonna say, that’s probably a muskrat and they travel around to different ponds and lakes.

Bingpot. My house is over a pond and all summer I see muskrats every day. This is what they look like when they swim. They'll dive under water near the shore and into their little muskrat hideout they dug, so you won't see them come up for a while.

They are delicious

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Depends on where they are. I’m in central Florida, and sights like this are definitely otters.

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I do not see a muskrat house anywhere.
