I always thought most adults were pretty stupid for the most part but since 2016, they have really proven it.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I guess they actually are, by their policies that exasperate the situation (based on denial of climate change.)

The government doesn't understand science enough for global warming theories to be real. But understands the science enough to generate and control storms with more energy in them than half the entire world's electrical generating ability. Riiiiiiiiight.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Not just the scientist, Exxon's own study proved it over 50 years ago. Then they spent the next five decades funding bullshit pseudo science creating the entire" global warming is a conspiracy" conspiracy theory. Now if that's not evil, I don't know what it is.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Honestly it reminds me of all the weather apocalypse movies. Very educated science and/or weather person: "This VeryBadThing(tm) will happen if we don't do something to change it!" Everyone else: "Hahaha look at mister scientist over here, what a clown." Way Earlier Than Predicted(also tm): *VeryBadThing(tm) happens* Everyone: "OMG HOW COULD WE POSSIBLY HAVE KNOWN?!"

Republicans love darwinism but fail to realize that without liberals around protecting them from themselves, they'd all be dead from terminal stupidity.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Republicans are quite a special breed of stupidity, and anyone who votes for them are automatically part of that same dumb breed.

I hope that there is actually some hope left for usa, but it honestly seems too thin with how dumb most of the voters are by going for Republican or not voting

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

The fall of past civilizations makes so much sense, people are fucking stupid in large groups.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Republican variation on the four stage strategy from Yes, Minister!:
Stage 1: Pretend that nothing is happening.
Stage 2: Say that there is something happening, but that it's totally normal.
Stage 3: Admit that it's not normal, and demand to know why your opponent haven't done anything about it.
Stage 4: Blame the Democrats.

2 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 1

You missed the part where they actively prohibit any and all action taken to mitigate or reverse the issue.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Up until a week ago they gave 0 shits about weather patterns, cloud seeding, freaking lithium mines. And now suddenly they are experts. It's ridiculous. If they actually spent half that energy learning about real science(which is fascinating) maybe we wouldn't have half of these problems.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

They don't wan to learn the truth. They want to be able to think whatever makes them comfortable and doesn't require them to do any self-sacrifice.

In 1970 when Nixon pushed for the creation of the epa he said "If we let the democrats create it, they'll give the damned thing teeth"

2 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 1

Their religion has primed them to accept any outrageous nonsense explanation instead of the grim reality and they apply the same mindset to politics. Climate change denial is a fixed tenet of the right-wing belief system, so now we get this ridiculousness in response to extreme weather phenomena.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

They really will believe anything except the truth.

Electoralism is dead, start building real world communities and networks, help each other out, mutual aid, plan for food shortages etc. Still vote, but like, it's just damage control at this point.

The USA is a failing state.

2 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 2

It's worse: the USA's primary driving force when it comes to foreign policy is perpetuating the capitalist hegemony. For decades they have propagandized against, economically sanctioned, pressured, invaded or backed coups against socialist projects. The owners of the US do not want its citizens to consider other options, because that would end their rule. The USA is not just a failed state, it is the guiltiest most aggressive and most oppressive state on the world stage.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

We just have to look to Central and South America to see the US government couping any real attempt at a socialist government in any country. Or Korea. Or any country in the Middle East that threatened to lean leftward, all of a sudden the US had to "rescue them" from their "dictator" (which they did by installing an actual dictator who agreed to sell the US their oil at mates rates)

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

it fully failed ever since the words 'trickle down economics' was first uttered by a elected official

The leadership absolutely knows it's true and are trying to fortify the borders and kill the south rather than let their fossil bosses lose a penny.

Nah, just embracing more doublethink.

2 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 1

if the libs really do control the weather..... why dont they just create tons of rain rain rain, just rain no hurricane/tornadoes, over california wildfires¿!¿ would be alot easier/safer to put them out with some soros/gates/pelosi made rain... and why does pelosi/soros/gates/hillary never aim any hurricanes at texas¿!¿

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

You're making too much sense and asking too many good questions, cease this at once. /s

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well the government is full of lizard people not humans so it is possible that they have weather controlling machines. /s

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

If the government could do that, *why didn't Trump*?

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

There's a thing called "Congress"! You do know that you have to have Senate majority and House of Representatives going along to get anything passed?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Ah, true. So it's only now that the Democrats have a majority in both that they're secretly voting to create hurricanes to hit red states.
... somehow I don't think this logic will fly.
But! What if Trump DID create hurricanes! And struck only the the Foes of Freedom(tm)?! That's why there was 13 hurricanes making landfall during his term, because he was a strong president, and there have been only 6 in wimpy Biden's term! Clearly the numbers speak for themselves, and this is a conspiracy!

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

He wouldn't have needed to ask about nuking a hurricane, nor would he have needed to sharpie it.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

it's their persecution complex

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It's true. Government can control the weather. The US spends $20 billion annually and the EU spends €50 billion ($55 billion) annually on subsidies to fossil fuel companies. Then there's the billions that Russia, Saudi, Iran and the Gulf states, Canada and Austraila give to their fossil few industry.

It's like socialism for the petro chemical industry.

2 years ago | Likes 211 Dislikes 6

Maybe we should holodomr them?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

...What?

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Holodomor was the man made starvation of Ukraine under Stalin, whether you want to attribute this to stalin mi's managing soviet policies, or stalin intentionally starving a population who weren't towing the party line is up to you, either way millions died due to famine under that "socialist" regime. Maybe starving the oil fat cats might work...whatever we're doing now doesn't seem to be.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

To be fair to the Trudeau Liberal government, they're also investing many millions in EV and EV battery plants. They've been working with the Ford gov in Ontario to bring foreign investments to Ontario to build EV.

going to be like 200 years to get this climate situation under control again.

That is an incredibly optimistic point of view. We're currently on track for 10°C (18°F) of warming in half that time.

It's not like I'll let them talk me out of voting. I just want society to start seriously asking at what point we just say fuck the system and get rid of the problem.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The one saving grace is that that asshole that walked into congress with a snowball died.

On a related note, fuck everyone who advocated AGAINST just GOING AFTER these assholes, and shutting them all up for good. Look where it got us. Objectively. HERE. RIGHT NOW, SUFFERING THE CONSEQUENCES OF *THEIR* ACTIONS!

You're not exhausted with this timeline. You're exhausted with dipshit brain-damaged republicans and their voterbase.

I never donate to funds through the register. It's fucking unethical to guilt people at the register. Go bother billionaires who have billions in disposable funds for that shit. It won't affect them one bit.

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

Same. Corporate charity is a scam. You're just letting companies that employ slave labor use your money to pretend they're not so bad after all.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sir I just work here

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I'm utterly exhausted by stupidity. The world is full of too many people that are willfully ignorant. And too many of them are in positions of power and/or influence.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

If it makes you feel a little better just remember this has always been the case, at least in regards to the public. They just didn't have Facebook and Twitter in the 1980s so we couldn't SEE how many stupid people walked among us.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Honestly, this batshit insanity is the norm. You likely weren't aware of it before.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fear more, it gets worse. Just wait until we finally are able to talk to the whales.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's part of the plan - if you're exhausted by stupidity, lies, willful ignorance and lack of consequences then you are less likely to do anything about it and the perpetrators get to continue their nefarious schemes with impunity.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If anything, it has made me much more likely to ask questions imgur thinks are uncivil.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We need the purge but it only applies to the wealthy. We get one day every year to try and kill everyone with a net worth over 100 million. They can spend all the money they want on protection to hide/flee/etc but we get 24 hours at them. This is the way the purge should have been written.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That would cause some real chaos. By the third one, we'd just hunt down the jobbers they keep hiring.

Unlike other countries that all are close within 500 miles or so to do the proper uprising. The US is so spread out it makes it harder to all gather to gether. Unless a Jan 6th idiot. But they gave us the blue print on really how to get it done. Sadly now talk is just talk and anyone who really cares what’s right might soon have to get real in person and not behind a keyboard. I have non curable stage 4 colon cancer. So I’m fu*kin down! And no I’m not old only now 48. We can’t be weak.

Just on Monday, I completely lost all motivation to advocate for anything or to pay attention at all. I keep telling myself, "C'mon kittyfajitas, you can't give up now! You're in the home stretch!" It's working so far, but barely.

It sounds like you should take a break before the break takes you. In today's high impact environmental stress induced hellscape it's chill or be chilled, and putting on your favorite show is practically a revolutionary act.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I definitely need a break, but I don't know if I'll be able to live with myself if trump gets elected and I hadn't done everything I possibly could leading up to it, even if it's at my own expense. Just a few weeks left, then after the election, I'll be checking out for a while.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That sounds like a plan. Glory to you and your voting friend. I am crossing my fingers that everything will work out for you.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

When you need gas, you don't care about which brand of gas you get, you want the closest one with the best price. I'm sure the Oil Companies know this, so why so many ads for them on TV? They spend so much on ads so that the TV station will spin any accidents in the best possible light, and think twice about doing anything else to upset such a big advertiser, such as educating about Climate Change. Once again, this is corporate media's fault

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Some people are particular, thinking one brand is better than the other. Or it's top of mind so when you search for gas on a road trip you might type that brand. Or when there are 4 gas stations on a street, you'll choose 'your' brand.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I drive for a living and my work truck has a small tank, so I go to get gas at least twice per day. I can truthfully say that not even once, has a TV advertisement influenced my decision on which gas station to go to. literally never

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

i mean that's cool. but a sample size of one does not represent the broader population.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wait you have commercials for gas?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You don't?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can honestly say I have never seen a single commercial for gas. I'm quite fascinated now, what do they even look like?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They have been on TV as long as there has been TV. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rtb5-axztrg
