For a disco event what do you need, but to build your own sound reactive disco stick? (only one of the few LED modes shown)
Unfortunately I didn't take many photos of the construction steps, but here is the Arduino and its rats nest of wiring in side the ball.
3D printed ball having many self adhesive mirrors added to it
Digital microphone (INMP441) for sampling the ambient sound.
ESP8266 based dev board to run the thing, with wifi but not used in this - though a bluetooth capable one could have been useful for remote control/configuration.

No, I was unaware of that project but i'll check it out. I'm just using the FastLED library to address the WS2812B LED strips.
