Here’s “Five Cup Salad”, a dessert I made for Christmas.

Originally, it was 1 cup each of pineapple chunks, fruit cocktail, marshmallows, shredded coconut, and sour cream- hence the name. Mix, chill & serve. (I liked adding cherries for presentation.)

But over time, packaging sizes have changed dramatically, so I’ve had to alter it from “cups” to ounces. This included an expansion of the final recipe beyond 5 cups because I couldn’t easily store all the leftovers from partially used containers of ingredients I’d have if I stayed true to 5 cups.

And this year, at least one of the wet ingredients came in a can 50% bigger than it used to, so I once again had to alter proportions on some of the other ingredients.

This looks like one of those mid-century recipes, except there's no gelatin.

Throw mandrin oranges into that and that's what my sister made and called it Hawaiian salad!

Sour cream? Really? I like sour cream doughnuts, but I never imagined mixing it with fruit. That's crazy. I remember my dad found this recipe but I don't know what it was. It was fruit and a mix of some sort. This sounds interesting tho.

The sour cream kinda…balances out all the sweetness from the fruit, coconut, and marshmallows.

I always used to love a fruit salad my mom or grandma made. It looked like that. I never had any idea on the recipe so now I'm willing to try this.

If it’s not, hopefully it’s close enough that you can figure out what you need to change!

Literally just whipped cream plus granny Smith apples and cut up snickers. Graham cracker crust would be great but grandma never made it that way. It's basically a cream pie (don't you guys laugh at cream pie)

Sounds interesting! I’d have tried it last month- we had a whole bunch of mini-Snickers left over from Halloween.

Literally today at work, we had this weird delivery mixup where we got a bag of mini snickers variety pack (well the delivery was yesterday, I saw them today like "huh wonder what those are for." Coworker comes in and says "yeah that was a mistake" so... yknow if it gets delivered and they're responsible for the fuck up, it's ours now. I would've taken much more home, especially since regular snickers, pb snickers, and almond snickers? God I want that, we could've made the GOAT snickers salad
